That's really cool, how lucky are you Shimms! I wonder if there will be a podcast? Although they usually skip songs in podcasts so we wouldn't get to hear Beautiful anyway. But we will on Saturday! ;D Was Damien on the radio himself or were they just talking about him/WWL?

I just love this song! It is my favourite on the album at the moment, just love listening to it again and again! I get the feeling that some of you who heard the original version of Beautiful prefer the more up-tempo version, but, having only heard a muffled recording of that song on one or two occasions, I fell in love with this song almost straight away. It reminds me a little of the gorgeous Savage Garden ballads from their first album ("Truly, Madly, Deeply", "To The Moon & Back") and that makes it even more enjoyable for me! Not to mention, that it is just the most totally romantic song!! My prediction : If Beautiful is released as a single, it will be a very big hit!!

The other day when I listened to Beautiful (recorded version) for I think the fourth time, for some reason it all of a sudden seemed like a different song to the concert version. I appreciated the recorded version so much more, and for the first time I liked it just as much, if not more than the concert version. Love it! Haven't listened to it since then though. Yes that's right - I've only listened to the album four times.

I hope Damien sings both the new and old versions of Beautiful at the upcoming concerts! Do you reckon he will? I haven't heard the old version live and I really like some of the parts that have been cut out (such as the "forever" part) and I just really wanna hear it!

Should I PM him and ask if he can please sing both versions? I also want to hear him sing The Blower's Daughter again (already heard it once at Hyde Park when he mixed it with Can't Take My Eyes Off You, but it was good so I wanna hear it again ).

Spud, I just re- listened to the old rockier version of Beautiful , (that I adore so much )and hope that he plays it at the concerts too.I love it as it is a much rockier version and feel it could easily become an " anthem" song played at weddings etc..I love the "Forever" part at the end. Here is a direct link for the newer members who may have missed this. www.vimeo.com/150515

Thanks for the link Andy. I haven't seen the Tweed Heads version for ages. I usually listen to the Hobart one.

Have been listening to both versions of this a lot lately. I love the version of Beautiful I heard when he first performed it in Melbourne, but I truly do adore the recorded version. The melody is lovely, his voice is absolutely heavenly..and the little added line of "and leaves me weak" sung ever so softly just makes me melt..*insert puddle smilie* This remains one of my favourite Damien originals.

Yes...if I hadn't heard the concert version then the recorded version would be ...well...beautiful! and it is....only I still prefer the original live version..that was/is D-VINE (also easier to play along with in the loungeroom...lol!) The Savage Garden comparison is probably accurate (dodges flying bricks...lol!) and AL has definitely left his (perhaps somewhat muddy?) footprints on the song...IMHO of course! But...(*she says backtracking*) I do love the recorded version too! (so taken, so easy )

I miss the line
'still feels like something new'
Being in a VERY long term relationship (34 year and counting) , it has special meaning to me.
