Hey everyone, I am back from Melbourne - the U2 concert was absolutely awesome and mind blowing. Bono has a wonderful voice and is a great entertainer. Mysterri, that's a great one of Damo drapped in the Aussie flag. Bono did that last night. Bono also sang 'Unchained Melody' - it was awesome. Really?! I heard him do that song as a B-side on a U2 compilation disc, and I thought he killed it! It might have been the arrangement though, not his voice. I just didn't like it at the time.

And Kami, that icon is cute! He looks as though he's looking at the anchor going "What the?!" ;D
Edit: OMG I just went back and looked all the way through the post! Winter those are gorgeous, as usual! And Janny - that is totally adorable!!!

I just listened to Bono's UM on youtube... well I have a mixed feeling about it. On one hand I hate the arrangement, on the other, I think his voice gives this poignant feeling to the song (though the 'rocking' up the song doesn't do anything).

Love this pic of Damien and just had to make something with it. D said that he would like to try his hand at acting and I think he would be great as the lead role in Mutiny On The Bounty, (move over Mel Gibson). Better yet, it could be a musical and all of the Idol contestants also have a starring role and they get to choose their own songs. The mind boggles at what they would be. ;D Mark and Kyle would have a short part in the movie but they don't last very long once all of the Idols have dealt with them. ;D ;D Now I just have to sell my idea to one of the big film company's. Man, my imagination runs away with me at times! Time for bed!

I love your imagination Mysterri. Now I have 'your' vision of the musical. I can just see D in a musical .......... bring it on - the list would be endless "Phantom of the Opera", "Pirates of Penzance" (had to get that one in lol), I could keep listing away teehee.
Kami I just want to let you know I've got your little avatar on my MySpace page and you are getting some nice complements and I've been asked who made it for me lol. Now .... I think all my friends know how uncomputer savvy I am to ask that first up rofl!! Just letting you know that I tell them it's you who made it.
Hugs,
Belinda

*is not going to say anything about Damien's 'booty'* ;D Oh, yes, Damien would make the best Phantom since Michael Crawford. (Has there ever been a good Phantom since Michael Crawford? ) I'm glad the avvy has been useful, Belinda. I don't care whether I get credit for it or not - the fact that it's getting attention and hopefully inspiring a few extra votes is fantastic! It makes me feel as though I've done something to help Damien on his quest to rule over the high seas... *ahem* I mean become the Australian Idol.

Thanks Kris. I agree with Belinda, Phantom of the Opera or The Pirates of Penzance would be a better option then Mutiny on the Bounty (showing my age with that one, LOL). I just feel that Damien could do anything he put his mind to, be it acting, performing on stage etc. He has a charismatic aura that is so unique. After this Sunday night I'm going to be so lost not being able to see him on TV but one of the delights of Damien is to just hear his voice and hopefully that will be available to us all in early 2007 when his album is released. As gorgeous as he is to look at, I've often just closed my eyes and listened to him sing and it is so beautiful! Have you ever just listened to (without looking at) the other Idol contestants? I don't mean to offend any of their fans but they are pretty ordinary without the visual.
Only four more sleeps! Wonder how Damien is feeling?

Me again. I've just listened to three different versions of Unchained Melody by U2 and to be quite honest, they were woeful! I'm not bagging U2 or Bono but bloody hell, they murdered that song every time. I've now listened to Damien's version of UM again and it brought me to tears.
After seeing D sing Nessum Dorma I was on an absolute high, it was exquisite. When he sang Unchained Melody I totally missed the feeling he put into it more so because I was still reeling from Nessum Dorma. Watching him sing UM again brought home the fact that he really connects with this song, he exudes a sadness that just tugs at the heartstrings, which is what this song is all about. How versatile is our D? Singing an Italian aria after having only a week to learn it and then to sing one of the world's best known love songs with such feeling! What else does he have up his sleeve?
I recall someone connected to Idol saying a while back that we haven't seen a true talent come out of Australian Idol yet but it won't be long. Well folks, Damien Leith is in da house! (In my best Marcia voice, LOL).

I totally agree with you there Mysterri. D is so versatile and he's never missed a beat. I'm still in awe of his amazing talents and how well he has performed every single song each week, regardless of whether it's been a big full on week of other Idol commitments etc, he's never made a mistake. He's so talented and a quick learner - amazing!!! He is definitely a natural. Idol definitely have a true talent this year.

Absolutely Belinda! The only thing that is concerning me a little is that Damien may be getting a bit fatigued with all of the media commitments etc. in the lead up to the Opera House. He really has been putting his voice through it's paces in the last few weeks as well. Not to mention the fact that he must be missing Eileen and Jarvis terribly while he is living in the Idol house. Also too, his parents and brother are here in Australia at the moment and he is probably yearning to spend more time with them all. As I said, only four more sleeps! I'm just praying that we don't have any more storms or blackouts on Sunday night! Gawd this waiting is terrible!
