Now, you know how I like nothing better than to pimp put little forum here.... (well, I like a few things better.......PRETTEH!!!)
Well.....with the concerts coming up....I figure we are all going to be seated in amongst alot of D fans....
I thought of maybe making up a little business-like card that could be reproduced on a photocopier, and handed out to those interested.....with our URL on it!
naff?
And does anyone else have any forum-pimping ideas, not only for the concerts but on other forums/ net etc?

The business card things sound good, but I'd make sure this is the forum address you plan to keep forever. I'd be very careful putting a URL to a free service on something so concrete.

I'd be very careful putting a URL to a free service on something so concrete. well....I'm afraid this is the forum address we keep "forever"... we cant rename the forum and keep what we have (we would have to start again, proboards just doesnt do it (its a free service, so there are restrictions). If y'all want a better URL, someone needs to purchase one, then redirect to this URL  Even if this were to occur, the current URL would always work. ..and I was talking about photocopies, not real cards or anything "concrete"! But reading back, its a fairly naff idea! I guess I can just write out the URL for anyone interested on a scrap of paper or something  |

It would be good if there could be a word tag for us for google. That's why people miss us but I don't think we can add tags to the title for search engines...

Is it possible without changing the URL to have searches identify this forum? Yeah I think the obscure URL is the biggest obstacle to growing this forum. On a google search of "Damien Leith" for instance, this site doesn't come up till page 11, which no-one but the most patient is going to get to. Even narrowing it down to "Damien+Leith forum" there are still 140 sites that are ranked above this one. Very difficult to find. I believe there are ways other than changing your URL to get a higher listing, but I don't know what they are. I'm sure there will be many on here who do however! ummm yes this has been a concern .. but as I have said it cannot be changed
if you look up Damien leith online it comes up

The re-direct idea might work. And if that WAS set up, you'd put all the tag form words in the index page of that for the search engines and then it'd be re-directed here within a second.

That redirect idea is great. Also, if any of you have a MySpace and want to see how I do it, I have a button I made for the forum set into my Interests panel leading straight here. It's nice and simple and effective |
