I'm gonna ask the mods/admin a question cause this is the question asking place haha.
Why does this place insist on apliting everything up when it gets over so many pages long. Like the hut and the games. There's a 4, 5 or 6 etc of something. I say what's wrong with ony thread going to 50 or 500 pages long. I know in other forums of threads that are 1000+ pages long and everything works just fine.
I'm not saying what happens is bad here, I'm just asking why is this so? I just am trying to understand things here.

Hi Jim.
I can't speak for the games, but I'm assuming it's for the same reason. We used to let the threads go on for pages and pages long, for instance the Hut. It basically collapsed one night, pages went missing from the conversation. We don't want these things lost I guess, so that's why we make a new Hut and, I'm going to go out of a limb here, other threads.

Neski is right Jim. After about 1,000 posts, you might be on page 63 and suddenly you are on page 28. The threads collapse and those missing pages are gone. It has happened at least twice that I am aware of in the Hut. We try to prevent that happening in any thread now by starting part 2, part 3 etc at the 1,000 mark.

Oh because I was voting every day and Zoso said you can only vote once. LOL Well once per e-mail address, that's right, but it's easier to write JUST ONCE than try explaining the rules of the different addresses etc.  |

Is Smokin' Joe totally imaginary or is he based on a real life guy? Anyway I've gotta get back on topic with this post in case Braffy gets annoyed and uses her super cool sneaky mod powers on me. You know when the Logies thread (I think it was) collapsed - was that because there were too many posts in it? I could be remembering wrong, but I thought there were only about 35 pages when it collapsed. So does that mean that any thread could collapse at any time if everyone is going crazy posting in it? yes I hope so Spud! lol Spud - no the forum actually really started blinking!!! I thought I was seeing things, then about 20 pages of the thread I was reading disappeared!!! It was quite unnerving!  |

That happened to me once too, I think it was the Logies night when we were all posting at once, and the pages started warping out & half the Logies thread disappeared and people got caught in the rubble - and it was SCARY!!!!! A new Logies thread quickly went up, and over the next 1/4 hour people slowly came straggling in as they climbed out of the collapsed thread wondering what on earth had hit them! |
