OK... I downloaded a copy from Bigpond the night after the finale. Having read the ARIA chart guidelines and realising this didn't count towards the sales I set out to buy it from a record store. There are only two record stores within an hour of my house. One is a Sanity - ok scratch that - those sales don't count either. The other is Target. So, I happily trotted along to Target yesterday with feet dragging hubby and nagging mother in law -BUT TO MY UTTER HORROR they did not have the single (not a case of they had sold out, or they were expecting it tomorrow - they just hadn't recieved any!) So, this makes me wonder - how many people in country areas are having the same problem? Then to make matters worse - I just listedned to the Kyle and Jackie O countdown of the top 10 requested songs and Damien wasn't even on it! OK- I PANICKED. Having just read the media releases I feel a little better as obviously some people are able to buy the flippin' thing!! AARG!! Just for the record (ha -excuse the pun).. Im not giving up! I know... I could download it again and that will count but its not the same as having an actual copy... What if my computer were to explode! I gonna drive the 1 1/2 hours to a Westfield Shopping Centre and if I cant find it there I gonna release granades ok... not really... I might just sulk instead Someone in the internal workings of the music world needs a good spanking if you ask me!!!!!!

Target tends to suck with getting singles in. I'm sorry you don't have any more reliable ARIA-accredited stores where you live. I only have 2 to choose from, but thank goodness Big W has been on the ball this week.

I got mine fro Big W too. However they sold out the same afternoon they got them in, and have no idea when they will get some more in. Their #1 spot fills 3 shelves...all vacant. I smile every time I see it. I have put my name down for the dvd out this wednesday, will be interesting to see when they get that in.

Hi all. Well, I've just been up at Kmart Bondi Junction in Sydney (with my youngest, to purchase Star Wars DVD - another story) anyway, I took the opportunity to INSPECT the Damien Leith nook.
Not happy, Jan.
First, the singles chart 1-30 CDs display had not been updated - it was all of last week's chart on display so no sign of Damien's CDs at all in the most prominent part of the store.
Second, there was a huge Sony BMG display - its "Hottest Stars on the Planet promo} with all their albums - but no Damien.
Third, when I went hunting down the aisles to the singles by artist section, there were only 3 of Damien's singles - and someone who was searching as hard as me with much RELIEF grabbed one as I stood there. So that left only 2. They were charging $4.43 or something like that.
So only 2 singles left, in a hard to find place, no promotion, charts all wrong and no sign of replacement stock.
Unimpressed! And this is the biggest Kmart store in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.
And i noticed the same problem when I went to Borders in Westfield Bondi Junction to buy it on saturday - only about 3 or 4 copies left, and none to be seen in the Music Shop on the higher levels (it seemed they didn't stock any at all). And there is no Sanity or HMV in Westfield anyway. None in Target either on Saturday when I checked.
And this is Sydney - one of the biggest markets in Australia? Pretty unimpressed SonyBMG with your distribution.
Hope it improves next week. Not particulalry fair when the only person it really reflects on is the talent himself, and he clearly has no control over it.
Anyway *whinge over* have to go read my eldest's school report - he has just broken up from school (yeh, holidays have started ......)
Ciao - Dededom

You know, maybe it's not a bad thing in a very strange twisted way...if sales have been this good so far and so many people haven't even been able to purchase the single yet, then it will only act to keep Damo on top for longer as people are finally able to get the damn thing over time. Still, Sony is doing a crap job at promoting him. I'm sure if it was Dean they'd have pictures of him in his knickers all over the place.

There are a few *coughtartscough* on this forum who wouldn't mind seeing pictures of Damien in his knickers all over the place! Especially if the calvesofpower are featured. What woule happen to sales then???

I think I would actually be so hot and flustered that I wouldn't even be able to remember my address let alone reach for my purse.

I still haven't managed to find a copy. I went to have a look in the Sanity store that I have been avoiding, just to see if they stocked it and they did not have it - not a single mention of Damien or his single to be found. I'm not surprised sales have gone down. If no one can get hold of the flippin thing then what do they expect? I don't know why it has not be shipped to these stores! Is it the stores fault or the record company? Im at the point of writing nast letters!!!! grrrrrr... deep breaths.... and RELAX.... oh dear... now I cant get the image of Damien in his knickers doing the Irish jig out of my head...

I went to Kmart, Big W and Target today and they still don't have it either! The only place I've seen it in is Sanity.

I'm pretty sure since Saturday..Sanity singles do now go towards the ARIA Charts, apparently they weren't getting as much money as they usta, so they re-joined.
So if you do buy it from Sanity from now on, it does count towards the ARIA charts.

So if you do buy it from Sanity from now on, it does count towards the ARIA charts. Thanks so much for the info...but Sanity still isnt listed on the Aria Chart Stores List as a recognised seller. I understand that they may be slow to appear as this all seems to have just changed, but till they are on that list....I wont be buying from them if I can help it My little 'find the single' story for today... I tried my local Kmart today....there was 2 big Sony promotional stands...one at the entrance for Christmas, and one promoting the "Hottest Stars On The Planet" (which still makes me giggle!). These stands had Guy, Anthony, Shannon, Rogue Traders etc etc...but absolutely no D. Also no D in the singles section, with at least 20 singles a pop from the other artists.... On the wall there are also singles, displayed in chart order...and FINALLY, I see NOML.....but..... one copy. Thats right folks, one singular copy. Every other top 20 single again had 20 or so copies...they were just finishing restocking as I came...but no restocking of NOML! I was in a bind...I thought I would buy another single, just to help those sales along ( )..but with only one copy left, then there would be no D in the store at all! I decided to leave it and let someone else have a listen So...should I be distressed that there arent any copies instore, or thrilled that even though they've apparently shipped close to 100,000 copies...everyone appears to have run out? And if they HAVE shipped all these copies, and IF the sales figures are as low as the Herald Sun has reported....where the hell are they all?! *insert Twilight Zone music here* Shpooky!

The only good thing about all this is that when they finally get it on the shelves, the sales will fire up even more.
I prowled through my local shops and only found 1 shop with the single. When I checked Sanity last week, it didn't have it.
