Everyone, does anyone know the precise place, time and place Damien officially gets his Australia citizenship? I presume it's in Sydney on January 26? Damien said in his latest message to this board that he'll be singing a few songs there. I hope there is going to be maximum TV coverage.

Don't Channel 10 do some sort of live show on Australia Day? If so, you'd think they'll feature Damien, assuming this is the day he becomes an Aussie citizen. If Channel 10 ignores it, I bet Sunrise on Channel 7 will be all over this one, seeing as Damien was a big hit on their show late last year. I want plenty of media coverage!

If we find out when and where it is happening, I bet the whole thing will be full of screaming Damien fans, with banners and Aussie flags.

Just looked at the Australia Day site. Do you think that the Lord Mayor of Sydney's Citizenship Ceremony is a possibility?

Normally the ceremony is held at your local Council. I suppose they'll make an exception for Damien because of his celebrity status. It's funny, mine was at the end of November and I don't recall being given the option of doing it on Australia Day. I was just given the date. Of course, that would mean my Council high-ups would actually have to work on a public holiday and I can't see that happening.

According to the timetable of events for Sydney, the Lord Mayor will be holding a citizenship ceremony at Hyde Park starting at 2pm on Australia Day.
Also have just read in Daily Telegraph (sorry don't know how to link - I'm very computer-challenged!) that Dicko and his partner are also becoming Australian Citizens on Australia Day. Dicko is suppose to be hosting the concert in Canberra on the 25th. Didn't say where his ceremony is going to be.
Wonder if Channel 10 would try and organise for both Damien and Dicko to be at the same ceremony?
Guess we will know soon enough.

Damienites, please keep in mind that this will be a citizenship ceremony for a lot of people, not just Damien. I would hate for this to turn into a total circus for the sake of these people and any of their guests and also for Damien and his family and friends.
This is not a concert, but a serious event in people's lives.

Actually, the Lord Mayor ceremony on Australia Day is held on the main stage in Hyde Park. It is an open ceremony followed by a concert.
Don't worry, Bahamagirl, I am not the stalking kind. Just providing information.

Thanks so much Maggie May for your info on the ceremonies! We weren't calling you a stalker! Sunshine (who has been known to do crazy nudie runs in the Hut) (less said the better) was the butt of that joke!
