Yes, I thought he looked very nervous. I think he was frightened he might stuff it up being the first time it is his National Anthem and in front of the company that was there. We have heard lots of singers stuff up Anthems belonging to various countries.
He didn't of course.

Lovely to finally see the full thing! I loved his version of the anthem - it was nice for once to hear someone doing it without belting it to death, as seems to be the tradition. And the bits with the PM were lovely too, if... strange. I'm not sure if he was trying to make a joke about needing to say the whole thing word for word, but that was... random. Damien was lovely and polite through the whole thing, and you could tell he was taking it really seriously. I wouldn't be surprised if he acquired a few more fans that day!

I loved the way he sang it too, Kami. He has the amazing ability to make every song he sings his own, even the anthem!

It was wonderful to see the whole ceremony properly! It was very moving and just the right tone.
Loved the Anthem - I don't remember hearing Damien sing that low before, was great to hear his voice in yet another way. I like the anthem done straight without the warbling, it's got more impact. Beautifully done!

I'm betting Damien will be asked to sing the anthem again at various footy grand finals later this year - he sure did a nice job with it. If only we were all blessed with such a beautiful singing voice!

I missed it too! Don't worry! The bits and pieces are still on You Tube! I loved the anthem! I think he pulled a Nessum Dorma on it - his accent disappeared! I don't know how he does it! It was beautiful, even though he was nervous! It made it all the more compelling!

D was just wonderful through the whole event. Loved the Irish accent coming out in "Austre-lia" (not sure how to render it phonetically but I hope YKWIM)

How low was the key for the anthem!? Was a struggle for him (but he did it typically well), I thought he might have to falsetto the second line - which would have been a corker to hear ;D

I think we're just not used to hearing him that low! But yes, it was great!!!!!! Loved hearing Damien's voice in that low key.

I watched the Noon Sunday replay, got home about 12.15pm and glad I hadn't missed Damien...I actually cried when the pm was thanking him for his contribution already and that he was really welcome to this country.
Did really well with the anthem, strange hearing him sing low, I didn't realise at first he was singing! We did get a taste of the lower register with "Crying" , though.

Damien has got an incredible range - he can go from low to falsetto in a few seconds. Incredible! Watching that citizenship ceremony and the anthem brought a few tears to my eyes. Even John Howard for once was vaguely tolerable.
