All I can say is I love U2 and most of their songs because because I love Bono's voice. I don't give a crap about his political beliefs or anything else. ;D Just thought I'd share that little rant with you all.... ;D haha Roxy...and I adore U2 too, and love Bono's stance on ending world poverty....so yes, there is room for all of us at their concerts! (although I reckon I deserve the front row seat cause I probably love 'em more...

To those who feel upset and questioning why they are here at DLO etc, please ask yourselves - Why did you join in the first place?
Was it to support a talented and gifted man? Was it because you feel in love with a voice and wanted to share that?

So a few people are threatening to leave the board because Damien performed at a Labor Party campaign launch? So Damien isn't allowed to have his own political opinions, or if he isn't a paid up member of the Liberal party, he is instantly unpopular with some people? I'm rather astonished with the attitude of some people here.

Why do I support Damien? Because I love this man's voice, his musicianship, his overall personality etc. His political opinions really aren't that crucial for me, even though as a Labor voter, I'm thrilled he sang at Morris Iemma's election launch.

So Damien isn't allowed to have his own political opinions, or if he isn't a paid up member of the Liberal party, he is instantly unpopular with some people? I'm rather astonished with the attitude of some people here. OK, OK.... Firstly, as has been pointed out, we dont know what D's political views are. We know that he performed at the Labour party campaign launch, and that not all guests and performers there are Labour party voters. Read back over the thread for clarity on this if necessary. All members on this board, including Damien, have the right to their own opinions, and to post them. Its a public forum. Standby for general posting guidelines TONIGHT. It looks like we may lose some members from this forum, sparked by the appearance that Damien has done. I would appreciate if we didnt speculate on who or why till we have all the facts. I understand that people will be confused and upset to why this has happened. All I can say is that we all have our own lines in the sand about what is acceptable to us, and what we hold dear. I personally wouldnt leave a fandom or a forum because of political beliefs, or an appearance at a political function...but thats because I dont hold it of great importance. Some people would, and do. For me, the deal breaker might be another action that D may take..which probably wouldnt be important to many others. Its going to be different for the individual. Believe me, its gut-wrenchingly sad to lose anyone. The staff here are shattered. All I can do is urge people to wait for the facts before doing anything, and to have a talk to staff before making decisions. We love all you crazy mob

*comes back in, dusting hands together in a satisfied manner* ..well, that takes care of Roxy....now where is Neski?? I have a reputation to maintain as per my front row A Reserve seats...beat that, you U2 fan wannabees! hehe Well said, Winter. We should all just leave it at that, I think...and maybe send nice PMs to those we might be concerned about.

Winter, I second what you have said. I know I for one love, respect and appreciate all members here and I hate to think that some of the members may be thinking about leaving.
