Ok where to start.. I picked up Bella and we had a great run down the highway to the sounds of the WWL and TWJ, only took 1 and a quarter hours from Bella's , so we get there about 3.30 , right on time, and I didn't make wrong turn, ( very proud of myself if i can say so.
)
Anyway we were wandering in not knowing where to go and some bloke sees us and says " Girls are you looking for Damien Leith? He is over there "and points , so we Squee and head over that direction and sure enough there he is on a small stage , with only about 3 people with him and he sees us from about 60 m away and starts waving, so we wave back and when we get there he comes straight over to us and says-" I love the shirts" . we were a bit of a quivering mess at this stage and as he had a mike in his hand we say "So you are going to sing?" and he say just one song,because of the rain and the noise etc..And he asks us which song he should sing so we say 'IStill Miss Us or maybe Beautiful and he says it might be ISMU.. And then he starts singing 22steps, so I decided to call Roxy to see if she was nearby so she could get her butt over here, but they were running late, still on the road, so I said that we were here chatting with D and she says go on pull the other one ,and I said no really, but she still didn't believe me so I put on Damien to talk to her.. She can fill you in on that part..
Anyways the sony Bmg girl had to whisk him away for a phone interview so we said we'll catch you later.. We realised we hadn't even introduced ourselves.
So we were in a state, so we had a calming coffee while we decided it was fate that we got him all to ourselves...
Okay about 5 ish the Roxy and Sis arrived, lucky for them we had staked out a good position and had security onside. ;D Houndsy was running late but we squeezed her in right at the front..Meanwhile we had many admirers of the Tshirts.
After the usual cheering , the damienites cheering loudly and were bantering with the MC.. Damien appeared and was in fine fettle.. Wardrobe report - tight jeans, black shirt, stripey silver tie and the purple velvet jacket. stubble and long spiked up hair.
He sang 22 Steps blended with Easy,,( must have changed his mind )and then Danny Boy. I was trying to take a video which I will try to load over the weekend and also hold my poster saying "Congratulations damo- No 1 on I tunes.." All the crowd were in a happy place and then he had a chat to everyone..the compare got folks to ask questions, and wouldn't you know it he asked me to ask a question. I was brain dead by then so asked if he knew what the single would be and if the b side would be new.. he said maybe All I want is you and a new original in about 3 weeks..
Some others asked him stuff and then the silly compare got me to sing 22Steps. God I think I nearly died of embarrassment
but being a true damienite i did my best,
Ok then we were up for the signing and i was first in line..
i got my album and my mum's signed and a t shirt i had bought at the kallangur concert. Sj I got your hug in and Holly I gave him a big kiss on the cheek from you.
i was around the back of his desk, very close to him , and I realised we hadn't got a photo so I hugged and kissed him again while Bella did the photo..
I think i told him I loved the album , but really wasn't thinking straight..
I went off is some kind of trance and was told I shouldn't have gone around that side of the desk.
After we had all had our signings done the centre management were chatting to us and said we could have the posters
Unluckily there were 4 and there were5 of us , but bella unselfishly said she wouldn't have one. We then decided to line up again and get our posters and shirts signed, and i hadn't gotten my poster signed.
We had him all to ourselves again and he signed our shirts on the back and we chatted about the tour and asked the questions we had forgotten earlier.
he said they will be filming one of the concerts as we want a DVD Squee..And got great group photos.
Finally he had to go to catch a flight
so we all hugged again and said our goodbyes.
I am still trying to process it all. It was the most fun I had had for ages and I want to relive and cherish the memories for a long time. I will try to post some photos tomorrow. Don't worry we got stacks,
