That is such a beautiful song! I haven't heard the Ben Harper original version, so I can't make a comparison, but Damien did such a lovely performance on Idol. I had tears in my eyes listening to it again last night.

What I love most about this song is the timing with which Damien chose to perform it in the competition - last show, most people would want to choose a big number to impress, but he goes with a beautiful, intimate song. It could have lost him the competition but I think instead people warmed to the kind of musician he was. And he just sang it so beautifully.

This is probably up there as one of my favourites, beautiful vocals and you can just hear the emotion in the song and you know that it really meant something to him.

Wow just listened to Ben Harper - so different!!!! It is a beautiful song, props to Ben for writing it, but Damien certainly massively outshone him and made it his own!!

I'd like to recommend that if "Waiting on an Angel" is the only Ben Harper song you have heard, that a listen to some of his others from "Live from Mars" may give you more of an appreciation for his music..he is a great songwriter, superb guitarist and a moody singer.
