have also been reading the previous blogs before that, and I love the way she manages to capture what we all felt: Here are some extracts.... Then it's time to announce the first person through. That person is...... Damien Leith. It's screams all around in the audience. Dean fans, who have yet to learn how to count to two, already start crying, not realising that there is one more place in the final. Damien fans scream because, unlike Jessica and Dean, Damien has had an upward battle in this competition. Mark has hated him from the start and has constantly set up roadblocks for him to fail, all the while paving an easy road for the other two. Damien getting through the final is proof that Australia can and will select actual, bonafide talent over looks. ****************** Damien is back singing Unchained Melody. It's captivating from the start, not unlike how Bobby used to captivate and hold your attention from start to finish. He brings me to tears - and not for the first time. God Bless Damien Leith. ***************** Damien Leith is singing Crying. This is a perfect song for Damien as he and Roy are kindred spirits, separated by a few decades and cans of hair spray. Within the first ten seconds, I have tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. Damien has that impact on me like no-one else. Not even Bobby. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it ****************** Damien is the last singer with Hallelujah, another beautiful song choice. Thanks to Damien fans because you've picked so wonderfully well. Damien is compelling, intense and just wonderful. I can imagine sitting on a hill on a warm evening with my beautiful husband and just listening to Damien all night ******************* Tonight he is singing Radiohead's High and Dry. Thank the good Lord Jesus that Damien is still in this competition. The most interesting arrangement of tonight, besides Ricky, and it's classic Damien - soaring vocals, impassioned delivery and of course some beautiful falsetto. I'm a big lover of Radiohead and very protective, in a way only a fan can be, of their music. And I loved it. ******************* Disco Night: He comes out with all guns firing, getting the crowd on their feet in the first few seconds. It's all very Club Med and cringeworthy regardless. Is that Courtney Act I see in the audience standing next to some very short Oompa-Loompas? Back to the performance and all credit to Damian. This is a really gutsy performance in a genre where he feels like Radiohead at a Young Divas high tea. *************** Damian Leith is singing Creep. Don't. f**k. This. Up. Cos that would be death to those of us who love Radiohead. I needn't fear though. He puts everything into this and even adds his own falsetto at the end. Please give him a recording contract. I love everything he does. *************** Damien Leith is next. I have high hopes for Gargamel and his rendition of With or Without You. He's gone for a edgier look, having grown some stubble and letting his hair stand up. I can't be objective here. Damien is my favourite and I think he does an awesome job here. Straight from the heart and without malice or prejudice. Give the boy a recording contract right now because I want to buy his music. Its nice to know that we aren't the only ones, huh?
