I am not sure that he is getting it on Australia Day. I think someone just speculated that he would. He may not be eligible until later in the year. Sunshine did you get my PM?

I don't think so: send it again if you want to. But, I must warn you, I'm very lax when it comes to replying to PMs. Yes, Damien will probably be damn busy in the studio recording the album, in late January, although he's got that big gig at Starcity on January 30.

I remember reading somewhere that he was getting his citizenship on Australia Day. I wonder whether he will be in Sydney or whether they'll have him come to Canberra....one can only hope. He hasn't been here yet.

Yeah... I'm fairly convinced that he's eligible some time in January too... although I have no idea where I got that information from.
Could be wishful thinking... would be lovely to see him featured on the news on the big day, which he totally deserves after some of the crap a loud minority has been spreading about.

I also read it somewhere that Damien was saying he was eligible around January. Jan 26 is also when they do that group of ceremonies for that part of the year.

..as for where it will be, my guess is the closest site to where he lives. Most town halls, etc, host the citizenship ceremonies on Australia Day.

Am I correct that Damien, Eils and Jarvis live in Newtown, Sydney? If so, he might be going to the citizenship ceremony in Central Sydney(Government House or Kirribilli House?).

Possibly Australia Day - but not necessarily. citizenship ceremonies are held regularly by the local council . i applied for and was interviewed for my citizenship in May 2004 and it was granted by letter within a fortnight, detailing the date of the ceremony which took place on 5th August 2004 ;D at Randwick. So what i would surmise is that Damien's application was granted a few months ago and he would have at the time been given the date of the ceremony. My Mum's cousin, who came out in the 60's, often reflects on her ceremony which was on Australia Day. Whenever it happens - I'm sure it will make headlines, and I'm sure for Damien it will be as poignant and emotional an occasion as it was for me ;D . I hope the media doesn't ruin it for him.
