Sorry I was late with this - Rick O'Shea only emailed me today not he is back from holidays to say they snuck Damien into the last show before Xmas rather than waiting till January as previously organised. I emailed him after the album outsold U2 to tell him about this great news ... it is a fantastic interview!!! AND he sings .... Waiting on an Angel AND a FULL VERSION of Hallelujah! You need to listen from 40 mins in to about 1 hr 22 mins of the show - right through to when Rick thanks "TEAM LEITH" (that's us!). You will need realplayer to play it - and it is done as the latest so make sure you save the smil file to your hard disk or it may disappear www.rte.ie/rams/radio/latest/thu/rte-2fm-rickoshea.smilif some clever person can cut/splice the audio to do the two songs as a separate post then they can be downloaded by everyone to their musicplayers/Ipods. EDIT - 6/1/07 - the Interview is up on the Site as a standalone smil file - www.rte.ie/2fm/rickoshea/rams/2006/damienleith4.smilEDIT; 10/1/07 - thanks to thebraff for the link to this photo and blog

Thanks for this Dede. Waiting On An Angel and full Hallelujah? Ack, I hate these RealPlayer files though. Only for Damien will I brave them! EDIT: I may have worked out a way to record the interview and songs. The silly thing won't let me skip straight to 40 mins, so I won't know for a while, but I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks for that, dededom. Damien really is one of the most charming people on the planet, isn't he? Just lovely! I've listened to it twice now and probably will listen to it several times more - that's how much I enjoyed it.

Quite right Dede - I loved it, it was even worth waiting for nearly an hour to hear Damien. On the topic of audio files, I have finally managed to get mp3s of the performances from the show, although they have a background hiss as the only way I could manage to record them was through my computer microphone. Damien still sounds lovely though, and I'm going to post links in a moment with apologies that I couldn't come up with something better. I can make mp3s of the interview too if they're wanted, as I understand the link may not last forever and I don't know if there is any other way to save the media, although the quality in parts may be dubious. Lissa, are you able to download and install programs to your computer or not? There's an alternative to RealPlayer that I used... it's called RealAlternative and it works extremely well. RealPlayer is a pain and should be avoided at all costs.

It starts at 46 minutes. Outselling U2? You betcha - U2's album was outsold by Damien's The Winner's Journey - still is - see www.ariacharts.com.au/pages/charts_display.asp?chart=1A50You can betcha I made sure Rick knew this helpful fact pre-interview! has a nice catchy phrase to it eh!

That last note was divine. Oh, to have been in that room with him.
