Heres the good bits:
AUSTRALIAN Idol's three survivors are living in luxury and getting on just fine. Or are they?
While Jessica Mauboy, at 17 the youngest of the contestants, said there was the odd touchy moment, rivals Damien Leith and Dean Geyer claimed all was well in their secret, palatial bunker on the North Shore.
Mauboy said there had occasionally been tension in the house as the end of the competition drew near.
"But only if we've had a really long day with photo shoots and someone is really tired or something," she said.
Leith and Geyer said there was no animosity.
"Everybody's definitely aware we're getting closer to the end - and everybody wants to get there," said Leith. "But there isn't really any tension, I haven't really felt it."
The Idols, whose magnificent home overlooks Middle Harbour, were speaking before tonight's episode (Channel Ten, 7.30) in which the theme will be music of the 1980s.
There is an enormous amount of work going on to prepare the singers for November 26, when the Australian Idol finale will be held.
The three have already rehearsed and recorded versions of the winner's song, a ballad yet to be named.
"We were all allowed to add our own feeling to it," Leith said.
The contestants have worked on stamping their own style on the track, which will be unveiled on the show next Sunday. In the meantime, one of the contestants will be eliminated from the series.
But there's every chance each of the three will be given a record deal by Sony BMG, the major label behind the competition, because they appeal to different audiences.
Geyer said all three singers knew they had different fan bases and they were hoping to capitalise on it.
Leith is the only remaining contestant from NSW and Geyer is being backed by Victorians. Mauboy is causing a fuss in the Northern Territory and receives flowers from the Territory Government each week. There has been huge support in her home city of Darwin, where residents have hung banners in her honour.
Leith, an Irish-Australian, has a big following in Sydney's Irish community and local pubs are placing "Vote Damien" signs on their walls.
Sydney's inner west is also backing its local boy, with shopping centres and local retailers displaying messages of support.
The contestants are allowed to have extended free time outside the house.
All three singers admitted they enjoyed being approached and recognised by fans, given the whirlwind nature of their fame.
