This is a nice article with a very nice pic! He says his interview went "very well". He's the Australian Idol, for crying out loud! So sweet how he says he's committed '100%' and it's 'very important' to him ;D

Thank goodness for the Sunday Telegraph! Damien and Dicko officially get their Aussie citizenship at the big concert on January 25? Terrific! I bet Damo's gonna sing too! And, another great picture of Damien: the warmth of the man shines through. I bet he completely charmed those people at the Immigration Department.

I bet PM John Howard is there to present Damien and Dicko with their citizenship: it is an election year, after all. ;D

Beautiful pic! And I love the article. Especially, "I think I did all right." Yes, as the Australian Idol, I think he has the Australian values and committment all wrapped up.

A very similar pic, but more closely cropped and much better quality (I did what I could with the newsprint, but Photoshop can only do so much ) is posted in the Photo Gallery by the wonderful Dede: click the link here

Isn't the concert on Jan 26? Is that a typo? As far as I know, Dicko is hosting the concert in Canberra on Jan 25, the evening before Australia Day. This might be separate to the actual ceremonies of Dicko and Damien. I haven't heard any mention of them being at the same ceremony except as speculation, and I've seen no other mention of them actually becoming citizens at that concert. Perhaps the paper got the concert and the ceremony mixed up, or Damien is performing at Dicko's concert? Anyone have any definate info?

I bet PM John Howard is there to present Damien and Dicko with their citizenship: it is an election year, after all. ;D But we want the man to feel good about becoming an Aussie citizen! What a lovely article, and I think that's one of his best pics yet

This photo is SO much nicer than the SH poster. I want this one in poster size ;D Page 24 for anyone else ripping the paper apart to find it Isn't the concert on Jan 26? Is that a typo? The concert is on the 25th but I think you will find the ceremony will be on the 26th. The concert is hosted by Gretel Killeen and also stars Bobby Flynn

I bet PM John Howard is there to present Damien and Dicko with their citizenship: it is an election year, after all. ;D It would have nothing to do with being an election year

Sunday Mail 14/1/2007 Adelaide (Basically same text as Syd)
BONZER: Damien Leith (with Photo from Crying Clip I think)
Idol set to be an Aussie
He's got the idol part covered. Now Damien leith is officially becoming an Australian. The Irishman will become a citizen in front of an expected TV audience of more than a million people. The ceremony will be held at the Australia Day Live concert in Canberra on January 25, to be aired by the Ten Network. "It is about committing 100 per cent" the Australian Idol said. "We made a decision and we are going all the way with it, it is very important to me." Leith will the hold dual citizenship, maintaining his link to his homeland, having moved to Australia from County Kildare in 2004. He met his Australian wife Eileen in Ireland and they have a son, Jarvis, and are expecting their second child in May.
