Woohoo!!! hope this hasn't already been posted: undercover.com.au/News-Story.aspx?id=1133Damien Leith Has Biggest Seller Of The Year by Paul Cashmere - December 27 2006 Damien Leith's 'The Winner's Journey' has rocketed in sales to have the biggest one week sales figure for 2006 and the third biggest single week figure in three years. Leith's album sold 101,206 units last week to earn the number one spot. That brings it in behind Shannon Noll's debut in February 2004 with 131,680 units and Guy Sebastian's debut in December 2003 with 163,711 units sold. Leith has also broken the Idol curse which hit season two winner Casey Donovan's sales of 34,036 units, season two runner-up Anthony Callea with 41,534 units and season three winner Kate DeAraugo who only managed to enter the chart at number 10 with sales of 15683. 'The Winner's Journey' in the last three weeks has had across the counter sales of 208,896 units. ( ) Other Idol's in this week's chart are Guy Sebastian, whose 'Closer To The Sun' album sold 7832 units at No. 29 and Anthony Callea, whose 'A New Chapter' sold 5465 units at No. 45.

Well. This is certainly a change of tune for our old friend Paul. Not a 'premature platinum' in sight. Glad to see he's finally got his story straight.

Wooooo hoooo!!!!! Brilliant! Way to go Damien! That's excellent! How can anyone argue now that he's not selling well or shouldn't be Australian Idol?!

Sorry to have missed these posts - been busy on the beach!
"208,896 units" total across the counter - out of 280,000 shipped (4 x platinum) - no wonder lots of stores were out of stock! Let's hope there will be a new shipment in January.
PS Do you reckon Paul Cashmere is eating his hat?

This is truly fantastic news, but I can't say I'm that surprised. As I predicted last week in this thread: dleithonline.proboards101.com/index.cgi?board=hq&action=display&thread=1166792890 in which I said in part: all the evidence we had to go by was pointing to this result. Let's see now...if Damien sold 208,896 by the time the charts were calculated last Sunday night, that would mean there were only 71,104 units (280,000 - 208,896) available for sale when most of the stores re-opened today. As this is a shortened retail week owing to 2 public holidays, Sony may choose to exhaust the current stock on hand, and ship new supplies at the end of this week, ready for the first retail week of 2007. So here's another fearless prediction: The Winner's Journey will stay at #1 when the last chart for 2006 is released (on New Year's Eve). He will go on to out-sell Shannon Noll's debut album which stayed on the charts for something like 35 incredible weeks, and become the highest ever selling artist in Idol history.

Haha, I'm really really glad that Paul Cashmere finally changed his tone about Damien . I wish he could've mentioned how wrong he was but that isn't gonna happen

so happy for Damien!!!! Look at this beautiful success - to a man no one would sign a few months back. What diamonds stare at us we are too blind to see.
