I have heard from someone that it has apparently been released in a newspaper that Damo is gonna go this week as he is the one that has the least votes.
As far as I know they are not allowed to release this kind of thing, so the person who told me could be wrong, but we need to make sure that they are wrong by voting as much as possible for our guy to make it to the Opera House.
We must never assume that he will be safe, we have to make sure that we do our part for him and get him there! Even if he gets another 2 touchdowns we need to make sure that we vote, and heaps, we gotta make sure that we vote for our idol more than Dean and Jess fans vote for theirs as it is not guaranteed that he will be safe!!

I'd like to know where this information came from when the show hasn't even happened yet, let alone any voting?
To my eyes Damien is the most popular of the remaining Idols. He has support from a lot of other artists and people in the industry and even people who don't watch Idol, and seems to be getting the judges behind him too at the moment. Not to mention he has a really humble and likable character, so I don't think anyone is deliberately voting to stop him winning, as happened with Anthony. However, you're right - we can't assume he's safe this week no matter how brilliantly he performs; Jess and Dean are probably going to step up a lot this week and so will their supporters, and once it gets to top 3 it really is impossible to be "safe".
I hope a newspaper somewhere is showing a story like that, actually. It might be just the thing to frighten people into voting extra. ;D

I'm not sure that the person may have gotten the details right ... but it's worth warning people as it could possibly encourage all of us to vote all the more plus that little bit extra just to be on the safe side.
Dean and Jess will probably step up the the plate, well Jess anyway, I think that Dean maybe too stressed out because of his many adoring fans but we shall see in time what Damo does with his songs, and I'm sure that he will no doubt come out and stun everyone again with his talent!

A lot of people seem to think Damien won't win, and yet I would guess he has more fans than the other two as he appeals to a more general public and Australia has never really been too big on "diva" type voices.
There was a poll done on a non music related forum I am on about who they like more, Dean or Damien, and Damien smashed the poll and is leading far far far away past Dean. And that forum is full of a mix of people.

Since Idol began I've been consistently reading things that suggest Damien was not the right type to win Idol - he wasn't good-looking enough, did not have "star" quality, he is too old.....etc... and I've been reading on the Idol forum "well Dean's got the looks, but Damien's got the voice - if Damien win's it's because he has a better voice." Also, (and this is why I dislike hearing judges' comments after a performance) whenever Damien gives a solid, sterling performance, either Kyle or ALWAYS gives a comment like "oh, that could've been dorky, but actually it turned out great". Right from the start Mark has been saying this kind of shit. From Damien's very beginning audition, it seems he takes them by surprise that he can actually pull off a great performance. Even last week's incredible performance when Damien gave everything, Mark says he was "stealing the show", which seems a nice compliment, but to me it suggests that Damien is someone no-one would EXPECT to prove most popular and give the best performance. This frustrates me no end! DAMIEN IS a superstar. He CAN win Idol, not JUST because he has a fantastic voice, but because we have IDOLISED him from the way his heart and soul shines through each visual performance - we do actually like to LOOK at him too! SO LET'S VOTE AND VOTE AND VOTE GUYS!!!!!

I completely agree with you ... besides, he's not THAT bad looking, I for one reckon that he is pretty cute ;D and so what if he's 30 odd years young, the guy is great to watch perform and has the voice of an angel. Nothing else matters except for what we feel He's awesome to us and all that matters is our votes that will get him to the Opera House

With me I don't necessarily go for the older ones, though I did go for Marty ;D however I seem to find that I am constantly going for guys rather than the girls ... well that's at the moment and has been for the past 3 years

Not the right stuff for an Idol?!? Did he not hear the performance? And did anyone see the ad for McHappy Day? Damien spoke the whole thing, and as well as having a cute accent, did it like a pro and with complete sincerity! He doesn't just have what it takes to be the idol - he could be Bono! As Bono says: if you're cool, you can't be open and honest, you have to be somewhat distant from you're audience. If dean is incredibly cool, then I am proud to say Damien is incredibly uncool! He connects with the audience not just while he's singing, but on a personal level! The uncool - like Damien and Bono - should rule the world!!!

*Not the right stuff for an Idol?!?* You are so right hyperrune. This guy has EVERYTHING I could possibly want in an idol. Just can't agree with Bono here even though I'm a massive U2 fan. For me, connection is everything. I always feel like he is singing to me directly, and yes, I swoon on a regular basis on Sunday nights, and many times inbetween when listening to him. For the record, Damien is an incredible singer (melt, melt, melt), a hottie to boot (sorry, hawtie), a devoted husband and father, a down to earth guy who never shies away from a challenge (up yours, Mark - sorry just venting), and incredibly down to earth. All the qualities I love in my husband (apart for the incredible singer bit!)
