I have had a sneaking suspicion the Damien was way ahead for most of the competition..in the bottom three (out of 5) for 5 minutes only..would not be at all surprised to find he won in a landslide!
*Dark Horse, Mark?..pfffft!..bloody favourite!!*

They always say it's close to get people voting more. Don't believe much you hear from the media I think he was probably quite a bit in front of Jess but they both did well Maybe they just didn't want to hurt Jess by saying she was way behind.

I am like bahamagirl. this is the first time that Ihave joined a forum (and loving it) - How are you Neski and Monica - sorry - Winter? I don't usually give my age away, let's just say that I am a grandmother of 2 (1 ready made and 1 home made), a mother in law of 1, a mother of 4 (2 still at school) and I am closer to 100 than being born. I joined the Damien bandwagon and voted earnestly but in control of my finances on my prepaid phone. I had only voted twice before in Series 2. I am quite obsessed. He just has the greatest sound. Thanks Dede for keeping us up to date with all this.

I'm so fascinated by the voting numbers, and am wondering how many it takes to put one Idol miles ahead of another. On the radio in Sydney the night of the finale, some really cute elderly ladies were ringing up and saying they voted for Damien. That's just so cool I think a lot of people across a very broad spectrum just love our boy and the Mark &Kyle in particular underestimated that for many weeks.

I suspect Damien got about 60% of the vote, and yes, the support of those over the age of 30 helped him a lot. ;D
