Back to CTW - yes, I would also have to say that it's Damien's beautiful way of doing those Dylan songs that make them good for me, I would much prefer his voice any day! I cannot keep up with which songs are my favourites on CTW : - it's changing constantly!!!! Live I love Wild World and Catch the Wind as well as Guitar Man, and wow, Baby I love Your Way live is just something else - that new ending Damien is putting on it - he's really putting his own stamp on that one and it's just wonderful too. Yep, he's done it again, I can't pick favourites on this album either!!!!

It's no wonder Damien and Eric have such a great rapport on stage and in the collaboration with the album. I bumped across some references to both of them being in the same band (It's probably been mentioned before?). It was a band called Revelate which was the in-house band of The Paragon Hotel at Circular Quay. Damien was the front man and songwriter, Eric Aranda played the guitar (of course). from the Paragon's website then: The house band, Revelate, play each Friday show casing the best in modern Irish song writing.Wow, I wish I'd been lucky enough to have heard them play those days. But I guess, we're lucky enough to hear them on this beautiful album. But the shows and any of the live performances are just something else. I just love listening to Catch the Wind - it's got so many different moods and effects. As my mum said, "Is that still Damien?" whenever the song changed. She loves it.

Well I didn't know it Nuffy! Thanks for that. ;D And Yes, Damien & Eric make a fabulous team- I am stoked that they're going to be together for the tour. ..actually the Paragon is where my DD's flatmate (bestfriend) used to work when she was at Uni and I remember her telling me when Idol was on that she knew Damien (I don't think personally ) from where she used to work! ;D

Wow! I've been wondering if some of Damien's old bandmates would join him again! It's brilliant to have Eric on board, he's a great musician, his guitar work at Parramatta was kick-arse! Must be kinda weird working with him again now that he's a superstar! Good on Damien for remembering people he's previously worked with. They really look like they enjoy each other's work, at Parramatta it felt a bit like we were sitting in on a jam session when they play Wild World. They make a great team

Eric was also in a band called Superfish and gained a good reputation for his work - probably while Damien was still doing the Idol thing in 2005-7. They've apparently known each other for many years and I'm sure Eric respects Damien but it's not likely that either he, nor any of Damien's real friends, would find it strange or even consider him a 'superstar' simply because Damien never seems to put himself across that way. Hmmm... they may have a few deprecating nicknames because of being famous though! - the type he wouldn't divulge when he and Eric had a smirk about it on the Morning Show and all he would come up with was Damo! sorry, off-topic! Anyway, the connection really shows in the live performances for Catch the Wind

Are you people serious?? Dylan is a crap singer, but man, the songs! The guy helped change popular music and when he "went electric" it was a huge moment - protest music crossed over into rock. Just being able to hold a note does not a great pop/rock/folk singer make. For a prime example look at Chris Isaak - great voice but nothing to say leaves him well down the list of rock greats. You have to have something to say as well (more than just "I wuuuve you" in a hundred different ways) - that's why I was so pleased to hear that Damien is expanding his horizons and writing about the outside world. The Dylan songs and Universal Soldier are to me the best things on the CTW album because they are political. Peter, Paul & Mary did a fab job of this ... but I still love The Seeker version ... I really, really love Judith Durham's voice ...

*admits to seeing Peter, Paul and Mary sing this live* waaaaaaahaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaa What's wrong with Peter Paul & Mary? Or the Seekers? Both huge artists in their day. I'd rather listen to them than Bob Dylan. He wrote good songs but .... same with Leonard Cohen.
