I'm expecting Madonna to get the number 1, hope I'm wrong....I think CTW will debut high though. and yes I have to agree if Carl debuts higher than Damien that would just be..................not good  but it won't happen  I think my uncle will be getting CTW for his bday. |

I was just thinking, since CTW comes out on a Saturday, does that mean we all have to buy it on the Saturday so that it will debut at #1 the next day, or will it not be counted in the ARIA charts until the Sunday after?
Brian McFadden's album was released on Saturday, and it isn't in yesterday's charts. I don't know if that's because it went badly, or because it was only released the day before so they didn't include it.

Spud... If you buy it anytime from Saturday till Friday  It will count towards a great debut if you buy it within those days |

Like Carla said Spuddy, the week starts on a Saturday and ends on a Friday. Then the ARIA chart show is on the Sunday night. That is why TWJ had a remarkable debut considering it was only released on the Thursday and only had 2 days worth of sales for the first week.

As we don't have a single from CTW to request to help with album sales, it could also be really beneficial to sales, if we request one of Damien's previous singles, such as "All I Want is You" is the few days following April 26th (album release) and make mention that CTW is out in stores now! It could prompt the DJ to mention it when they play your request Email requests or phone calls to your local stations in that week could be helpful as it keeps Damien's name out there |

BIG REQUESTIf you see Catch the Wind is the stores for sale BEFORE Saturday, don't be tempted. DO NOT BUY IT UNTIL SATURDAY OR AFTERIf you buy it before Saturday then the sale will NOT count. I think it was Where We Land that was seen in some stores prior to it's release date.

Er, yes, on that topic, some copies of Catch The Wind may have been seen in a Tasmanian Big W store today. So don't be completely unable to control yourself like my mother.  |

She said it was like a magnet and she couldn't get away.  In her defence, I'm not sure I would have been able to control myself either.  I'm not getting my copy until Saturday and my family will probably need a couple more and my mother will probably be consumed with guilt and get herself an extra copy, so... Although if all the stores get them in that early, we might just have to hope that it's wildly popular enough that it is counted for this week. My mother said it looked as though quite a few copies had been sold... |

Should someone be told that it's being sold before it's release date? Of course if they counted it toward the weeks sales then it would be okay- but they might not have the capacity to do that...computers and such...

I'm pretty sure they can count them before the official release date, but can choose not to if it's only a small number. Usually CDs are only released one or two days before, which doesn't rack up enough sales to make it worth the trouble. TWJ was a big exception there!
I suspect a lot of stores will release early to try and get the jump on the competition, knowing it will be a popular record, which is promising, but annoying if they wilfully wreck the first-week sales to ensure their own sales. They will possibly get in trouble for it but I guess there's not much that can be done now... :-\
