My oh my Damien is gorgeous. I decided to come home. My daughter is sick so I decided that I wouldn't tempt fate by staying there. It would have been good if i could have helped her with the children in the morning but I was going to be leaving early anyway so it wouldn't have made much difference.
My daughter and niece enjoyed it, thought Damien was really good and a nice, funny person. Not being of the vintage of the songs but 'sort of knowing them' they thought the first part was a bit slow (in tempo). The 2nd half for them was better.
Kaz has given you the set list. Damien was cracking the jokes, often at Eric's or his own expense. He made a remark that he was wearing the jeans that just rip off *whistles* and Indy said her dress was the same
. Indy was
nearly wearing a dress and I can imagine that one pull and it would be gone.
He was wearing that lovely coat that he has on in Smiley's siggy.
I can't remember the name that Shims has given it. It is like a battlejacket.
(and bloody gorgeous)
It was lovely meeting Kaz. I received a text message just as I was nearing the club to say that she was already there and having a cup of tea. I rang her when we were inside the Club and she said he was in the Cafeteria. As I was walking into that area my daughter asked me if I knew her and I said 'I would know her as soon as I saw .....oh there she is' ;D
We had a cuppa together while daughter and niece went off in search of food. W3e wanted to be first at the door to get the best seats on our allocated tables so the girls left us.
Being true
we were right at the front of the doors except for an elderly man who was sitting on the nearby seat. When someone from the club came by we asked if we were standing outside the correct door to wait for entry. When she said yes we turned to the gentleman and mentioned that we knew he was there before us so we would wait for him to go in before we
barnstormed knocked him out of the way walked demurely to our tables.
Both our tables were at the front and we scored front seats too.
I was table 2 and Kazza was table 5.
I was minding the two seats opposite me for DD and DN. While I was waiting the rest of the table filled up. The table held 12. A lady came over to talk to the other people on the table. I said, 'excuse me, are you Tina?" 'Yes I am, you must be Braffy'
It was so nice to meet Tina. For those who don't know. Tina is the twin sister of one of our Irish members, Noeleen. I knew Tina was going to be at the concert and I felt equally certain that I would know her as soon as I saw her. She is a lovely charming lady. She was proudly keeping the Irish tradition alive
(I love your accent Tina)
When Damien came back for the 2nd half, it was just him at first. He said 'this is the time that i get intimate with you" Some
called out 'I'm ready' Gawd! they are everywhere.
Also, once again tonight it was a man that was calling out for Damien to take it off.
Damien blushed a couple of times tonight. He is looking so comfortable up there on the stage. He is really owning it.
I think of all the fabulous songs sung tonight my favourite would have been Wicked Game. Damien kept going higher and higher. He was getting the audience involved and they had to match him with singing high. It almost got to cracking the crystal stage. I think Damien won that battle.
The audiences seemed very reserved. Not getting into it as much as they could have although the 2nd half was better. I was talking to Damien about it after the show and he felt that it wasn't the best kind of venue to do an acoustic performance. he felt that it would lend itself better if he was there with a band.
Damien was supurb though. He has such a wonderful voice.
While we were waiting for the signing line to get a bit shorter a woman who I had seen taking photos from the floor area came up to me and said are you Braffy? When I said that I was she introduced herself as Rivers. It was lovely meeting her too. It was an unexpected surprise. I had to laugh when she told me that Damien had pointed me out to her. Damien was at the opposite end of the room and I was still at my table in front of the stage.
I only have a few photos on the digital camera (there is a beauty of Damien and I) but only a few of the concert. Most of my photos are on the camera that needs the film to be developed. I still have some photos left to take. I will finish it off at the Basement.
I was a bit hesitant to take photos even though I was in a great spot without the microphone in front of Damien all the time. There was a big sign at the door that no photography was to take place. So I missed quite a few perfect opportunities.
One thing I must share with you......When Damien started singing the first song he seemed to be spanning the audience taking it all in. When he came to our table he gave me the biggest grin
Even my daughter and niece noticed it.
There was also a
heckler person on a table to my right. She kept calling out for Wicked Game, Irish Dancing, 'hello Eric', all sorts of things. *waves to Kaz*
That is all from me for the moment. Thank you Damien for another night of great entertainment. I can't wait for the Basement now.
