Awesome set list and glad you all had an awesome time! Yay Eric is back! Wow, I'm really excited about that actually. So were Jimmy AND Eric there, or did I misunderstand something? That sounds cool, hope they're both there tonight. I just love hearing Damien singing Everybodys Talking when he tilts his head back and ........ WaaaaaaaaaaWaWaWaaa! Toot Toot! JUST LOVE IT. I dunno what that's all about but I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing that tonight!

It's quiet in here - I think most of the tarts are nursing sore heads! Typing can be rather noisy! Where to start Mum and I got there way earlier than expected - only a half-hour drive, and we were crawling because she couldn't find high beam - found the girls just finishing dinner, I was able to hand books around - for anyone who doesn't know about the books yet, I'll set up a thread in the public domain in a bit ;D - caught up with everyone. Houndsy, Carla and Womby disappeared to the car park to do tequila shots Houndsy was shocked that I knew she'd been kicked off the plane, she didn't know it had been posted Braffy saw Eric as he was grabbing some food (scared the poor guy I think ) he'd come back for a bit! So we were lucky to have both Eric and Jimmy with us last night So, we got in and settled for the show - some people with several tequila sunrises at their elbows - and we pushed our table nice and close to the stage. We had glow bracelets and red noses at the ready Everything after that is a bit blurry but some highlights: - Story that accompanied Annie's Song, it was the song Angela convinced him to sing when he was auditioning for Oliver and was too shy to sing. I can see why he got the part - as he put it, "I've been robbing people ever since!" - Eric suddenly played Crazy Little Thing Called Love, which Damien totally wasn't expecting! But he went with the flow, and it sounded great! - Everybody's Talking was GREAT!!! He was playing coy, scratching his arm and even hopping up and down while he did that long note! Everyone was going 'toot toot!' - Interval. More drinks - Crying was On the high note, my heart just about leapt into my throat! It was stunning! Ditto the high note in Hallellujah! I think it was in Hallellujah, Damien kept on telling the audience to do the high note, then looked impressed: "Some of you are showing off! Some people are trying to harmonize, no need for that, but that was pretty good!" And so he kept going higher, and higher, and when I thought he couldn't possibly get higher, he said "I need a run up for this one!", did a little jog to the mic, and let loose a note that possibly went past the note in Sorry Seems to be the hardest Word, it must've had dogs barking a block over! - Eric tried to do something on that weird, speaky-guitar thing and stuffed up in Hallelujah, and Damien was sblack personing, he came to the mic to start singing and had to back away, you could hear him chuckling! Eric was laughing, and both Shims and I had hands clamped over our mouths to stop laughing! Then just when he got under control, someone yelled "toot toot!" and he broke up again! - As punishment for making him laugh, Damien made Eric play La bamba behind his head from the start! Eric was going 'you start the song and I'll do it", Damien said 'nope, do it from the start!' Eric: "I can't!" Damien: "Yes you can!" And of course, he could! - Can't remember when it happened, but damien took his jacket off, he started going "da, da, da, dee dee da" and eric added a few sexy guitar licks! And then Damien mentioned he'd been told the pants he was wearing tore right off if you tug them! My mum said afterwards "That was so rude, I can't belive he said that!" Gawd, I haven't even got to the after-show stuff yet - give me a tick!

I was waiting for Houndsy to grab a leg and try - especially when he jumped in front of the mic and Irish-danced practically on top of her! His dancing was great! way better than I've seen him do before! I like this new sound, with all the guitars and the violin - it reminds me of The Corrs (he'll be sick of that association from the family band ) but it really suited him, it's going back to his roots a bit! Other things: - Damien said "I can't imagine Idol without Mark Holden! Anyone like him?" *general response to the negative* "well, I won't mention him again!" But then he talked about Idol's highs and low, and how a Touch Down was a high, but being torn apart for Celebration was a low. So we chanted 'do it! do it! do it!' and he tried to back out, going 'no, I can't remember the moves,' but then Eric started playing it, so then he did it, dancing and all, and then said "sad thing is, I did it better then than on Idol!" - he went into the intro for 22 steps, and talked about the girls he used to like, and claimed he was 'shy, but ruggedly handsome' back then! The room cracked up, and he said "why are you all laughing at that?" Then, all the way through Father and Son, he sang "I am old, but ruggedly handsome" - he started telling the story behind Long Way Back, and right on cue our whole table yelled "STALKER!"

bwah! I love all the lyrical jokes D has been using lately..he's so goddamn witty..and is only just realising it, I think! Love the "handsome" bit..and he waits for the response!bwhahaha!..and 22 Steps, with the joke about going through rubbish bins! Actually, I'm with D on that one.I can't imagine Idol without Mark either..even though he's a total nutter, he IS Idol to me..the good the bad and the UGLY.

Thanks for the great report Hyp. It sounds like the show was an absolute blast with Damien in fine form. I can't wait for the Canberra gig!
