The Show!
Lovely haunting notes from Jimmy’s guitar welcomed Damien on stage to rousing applause and he immediately launched into a fabulous set. Indi soon joined in as well and all three entertained the enthusiastic standing room only crowd.
Damien was dressed to kill, wearing his all-black special topped off to perfection with Hawt Zhivago for maximum effect . The non-Damienite front-row, unused to such close exposure to teh hawtness, started to feel teh vapours quite early on in the show and became strangely quiet as they watched on in a hush.
Damien (noticing the unnatural quiet from the front row) wondered where all thelunatics gorgeous darling Damienites were tonight, but soon realised they must all be getting their beauty sleep this time and would be even prettier next time he would see them
Song by song, the audience swooned, joined in, laughed and cried. Somewhere during the 2nd part of the evening, however, teh mood suddenly changed!! and the front rows became overwhelmed when Damien, swept up by the occasion of being in the Wild West, unleashed an as yet unheard of avalanche of teh sexeh, rolling out The Blower’s Daughter , Creep , KISS & Never Tear Us Apart one straight after the other.
By Creep, there were already definite signs of tremblings in the uninitiated throng, but KISS broke down all remaining resistance, members of the front row dangerously by-passing coma stage & falling one by one into immediate nirvana-eclipse. Medics could not keep up with the onslaught as row by row the audience was swept away.
They eventually awoke from their spell to the sounds of jingling laughs and clapping hands, Damien performing strange & exotic dance moves as the crowd sang along, “Celebrate good times - COME ON!!”
They blinked their eyes again as they felt themselves coming out of the strange fog, thought they even saw him Cossack dancing(!) , but were sure they must just be hallucinating so blinked their eyes once more to see things had indeed returned to normal again and Damien was approaching the microphone, guitar slung around his shoulder - about to sing and cast his spell over the room once more.
There were sing-a-longs, cheers, tears and smiles as the show continued on, stamping feet inviting an Encore which saw Damien tease the crowd with just a little of Hotel California before launching into an epic version of Wicked Game (complete with Irish dancing) .
Entirely captivated, the crowd yelled for more - but the lights went down, the evening drew its curtains and the audience went away having seen one of the best shows they could remember.
What probably didn't happen:
Delighted hearts did not murmur all in a line, “OMG, he’s wearing the all-black suit” when Damien came on stage
No one called out “Gary Sinese is hot!!!”
A front table did not yell out “Stalker” during the intro to “22 Steps”
There was not rousing applause from a certain part of the audience when Damien got through the tricky part of “Vincent”
Strange objects, including room keys to fictitious and oddly-named hotels, various swimwear and lingerie, did not land on stage
well at least, we don’t think this happened - unless we hear otherwise
