Hi everyone. Well, here we are back at the motel room finally. Its been an absolutely fabulous night, as is any night when one is being entertained by THE MOST FABULOUS SINGER IN THE WHOLE WORLD!! Smiley has the set list and will no doubt post when she returns, so I am afraid you will have to wait for that. I do remember some, though....Annies Song, If, Catch the Wind, Everybody's Talking (Toot toot), and he ended with one of my all time favourites, Wicked Game...
As Oz indicated, I arrived there after a 4 hour drive that should have been just over 2 hours (thanks to accidents on both the Ipswich Motorway AND the M1). I later found that poor Smiley and DH were also caught up in the same mess, and theirs was after several hours already on the road...so I won't complain about that anymore! lol
I arrived about 6.30 pm and met up with Oz and her DH at the motel, where I quickly changed and then raced up to the club to meet my friend, while Oz and DH waited back at the Motel for dinner and DS. Once I got there, I snagged a seat in a comfy lounge chair outside the door and enjoyed some lovely pre-concert entertainment in the form of rehearsal drifting through the door:)
Smiley and her DH came along soon after, and we were then in a great position to snag a front row table. ;D
The concert was just fab, the audience took a little while to warm up, but once they did, they were in fine form. Damien was as ruggedly handsome as ever, and still thinking about that little girl in 3rd grade... ;D Lots of laughs for the gags, too.
Interestingly enough, Damien revealed that Eric had been with him in Revelate (some of you might already know that, but I didn't) and then they did a song I haven't heard before....Irishman in New York, and I did get it on video, so wil post it tomorrow.
At interval Smiley and I went up to George when there was no one else around, and asked him if Damien was seeing people. At first, he said No, but when we asked if he could please ask Damien if he wanted to see the girls from the Forum, he said "Oh, you are from the FORUM! I will ask him".
Anyway, George came back at the end of the concert and gave us the thumbs up ;D, and Damien came out after everyone else had gone. It was really lovely of him to stay and chat with us, especially since he said they had an early start in the morning for a long drive.
I am sure that Smiley may remember more, but basically Damien said he was thrilled with all the gigs they were getting, and really enjoying them (he actually apologised to us for having to hear the same things again, and we said....No!!!as if we mind!....lol)
Kath, Damien explained why they aren't doing shows in Adelaide....he indicated they would need to consider the economics when going the longer distances....Which doesn't mean that he rules them out, just explains why. (I suspect he would need to get a few Adelaide dates together to make it worthwhile, like he did last time).Sorry, hun..xxx
oh oh, he said that the NSW concerts will have a different instrumentalist with them...don't know how to spell it, but I think he said it was a Bodhran?...hope I got that right... (correct me if I'm wrong, please Smiley??)
ok, its very late here now and my brain is mush....if myself or Oz remember more, I will post it tomorrow....hopefully along with some videos:) (backgrounds and vantage were great, so hopefully there are some good ones there).
By the way, I also asked Damien if he ever minds us videoing (I am aware I can be a bit compulsive, for example!), and he said he doesn't mind at all...he says he actually can't see us videoing mostly... ;D
ok, good night all....or rather, good morning...
