Keep in mind I have been to two shows in a row at the same venue so I hope my reports don't get mixed up.
I left on the train just after lunchtime...but had previously received a text from Houndsy saying "I have missed my plane" to which I responded "Hahaha...nice try, see you in a little while". Which was followed by a phone call about 15 minutes later where she was crying and telling me she actually DID MISS HER flight! Ooops...I felt kinda bad for making a joke of it. Anyway, they did manage to get her on the next one...YAY.
Houndsy was renting a car and as posted by Braffy, she pulled in in this GORGEOUS silver convertible. She stopped across the road and I had to look twice as I was thinking there was NO WAY that could be MY RIDE...haha.
We drove to Penrith, checked in to the hotel and proceeded to get ready for our night out
(and perhaps there might have been a few glasses of wine and a little bit of dancing around the room to some 80's music...haha).
THE SHOW WAS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kazza has already done the set list and to be honest, I never remember the order anyway but Damien was sounding beautiful, especially considering he had only just gotten home from his trip on Wednesday.
He said the boys are still on Qatar time so have been wide awake in the middle of the night. So poor Damien hadn't had much sleep since Wednesday, however he was still fantastic and funny as ever!
A favourite of mine is always Wild World so I was so happy to hear it again. I really like it live because most people know it and tend to sing along.
Speaking of sing alongs, we had them for both Everybody's talking and Wicked Game, both times there were many reference to how bad the Wollongong audience was at the sing alongs! LOL! My poor home town has become the butt of D's jokes for the last leg of the tour...haha. It's ok though, because even though Womby and I are we both vocally perfect at Wollongong (HAHAHA), the rest of the audience was bad! LMAO!
(and Damien, I really mean it, I don't mind at all, stop apologising)
Beautiful was just stunning....I never ever tire of Damien singing it. It gets better and better with time, such a classic.
Goodnight was the highlight of the night for me. Absolutely stunning. Each time I hear this song, I love it even more. The first time I heard it was on the piano so it was quite different this time around but I must say...I DO LOVE THIS SONG!|
As Kazza said, it looks like it is going to be on the album so that is fantasic news
I haven't completely read the other reports but I am sure Kazza probably mentioned a beautiful marriage proposal up on stage? Wow...what a lovely moment that was for everyone, especially the bride to be!
Damien then went into a story about how he proposed to Eils...saying that they were going overseas and he was taking the ring in his pocket with him. He got asked to empty his pockets going through customs and was so afraid of Eileen singing the ring box. Thankfully she didn't but apparently there was a...errr....um....condom in D's pocket too. He said it had probably been there since he was 15! LOL!!!
I have to admit, the crowd was a little more quiet than I had expected...well, the Damienites weren't of course! It was a good crowd just not as loud as I had expected.
Also, as you already know, Eric is going to be in Indonesia so that was his last show for the year
I am going to miss seeing Eric at the shows, he is a regular now but I am sure Raymond (and Jimmy will be back for some too) will do a fantastic job too.
And...as for the lyric mistakes, I often don't notice...nor do I mind. I am always amazed at how he does manage to remember the lyrics to so many songs but during one song (I am almost positive it was Wild World)...D accidently did one line of the 2nd verse in the first verse...he looked down at me and I just giggled and and put my hand over my mouth as if to say "oooops"....and then when he did the 2nd verse and got the line right, he looked down again and raised his eyebrows as if to say "I got it right this time" hehehe...so I gave him a big smile and the thumbs up. Considering he was jetlagged and had not slept since Wednesday, I think he did an amazing job!
Straight after the show, George came over and kindly asked us to "hang around" as Damien would come out and see us. So we did, however, so did many others. After about 15 minutes, George came back and asked us to come upstairs.
We got a lovely chat with Damien and a couple of photos which Kazza will post when she has some time as she is really busy this week.
It was lovely to meet Kazza and Michele!
I am sure I will think of little things to add as they come back to me and will do a report for the 2nd night soon
Thank's Damien for a very memorable and wonderful night and for being so lovely as always
