Damien's Bio

Damien's Bio on the official site gets updated all the time and half the time we probably don't even realise it's been changed, so I thought we should have a thread to post each new bio. (BTW I'm not sure if we're actually allowed to copy it - are there copyright restrictions or something? Delete this thread if I shouldn't be posting it.)

Anyway, here's the current one. I had never seen it before yesterday so I don't know how new it is.


Damien Leith is a singer, songwriter, author and family man. After winning Australian Idol in 2006 his career and profile has sky rocketed.

Damien has since released three albums through Sony/BMG records with them collectively selling over 500,000 units. 'The Winner's Journey' and 'Where we Land' albums both held the no.1 position on the Australian music chart while his latest album 'Catch the Wind; Songs of a Generation' reached no.2.

In October 2007, Leith was nominated for 3 Australian ARIA Music Awards including; "Best Breakthrough Single", "Highest Selling Single" for Night of My Life and "Highest Selling Album" for The Winner's Journey, which he won.

In February 2008, Damien was host to Network Ten's heart-warming television series "Saving Kids". A show filmed at Sydney Children's Hospital which allowed viewers to see medical miracles unfold in the stories of children being treated for serious illnesses and horrific injuries. His song "Not Just For The Weekend" was used as the theme song for the show.

Damien has been nominated and won many prestigious awards in his short career and has even released his first fiction novel 'One More Time' through Harper Collins Publishers with his second novel due out late 2009.

Damien is currently doing an extensive national tour.

Thanks Spud, yes we did know about the book due out in 2009. If you go HERE and read Damien's Summary of Achievements it is there. I just updated the new tour dates on it too, I had forgotten to do it.

I noticed too that my link to D's Bio isn't working! I'll have to re do it again.

They all came to his house?? At least the apostrophe was in the right place *sigh*

I just had a peek at Damien's Official SonyBMG site and although everything looked like normal... the white background etc...
I was on the lookout for anything new for 2009 and what do i see when I click "VIDEOS"??

... oooh a nice new website for him on bandit.fm - Breathe and such a cute picture of Damien - not new, but so sweet and the WYD performance photo from his phone camera.
And when you click on the Photos tab... woohoo! they're crystal clear pictures - same as the original Gallery of the OS but viewable as a filmstrip. Plus, you can even buy his songs online from the same page.

But you can just as easily get to it from the OS. It replicates most of what's already on the OS but it's much nicer to move around. What an improvement! I like it

Wow, that must be new, I showed my Mum a video on Damien's site a week or two ago and it didn't look like that.

You can now watch the videos in full screen mode. They made the photos bigger too, but cropped them.

I was disappointed at the cropping too Spud - especially the last photo... but he still makes me and when I see even part of it!
I like how you can listen/watch the videos on the small screen and still navigate around the page to read and just the photos at the same time
Funny how they're hiding it in the Videos tab though.

Yeah, you'd think they'd do a News post about it at least. Maybe someone should mention it on the forum. Not that many people visit that forum anyway.
