Breakthrough Artist is the only nomination that Damien has.
He has missed nomination for Male Artist, Single of the Year and Album of the Year.

Yeah, but Braff, the Idols NEVER get nominated for those, they only ever automatically get nom'd for highest selling blah blah blah - the fact that he's actually been nominated for Breakthrough Artist when NONE of the other winners or runner ups have been is astounding - but not surprising to us, right?!

He should have 3 nominations including highest selling album and highest selling single.
'Where We Land' won't be relevant until next years ARIAS as it was released after early August so he might get a nomination for album of the year or best male artist next year. It would be hard to get those nominations from TWJ album.

screw "highest selling" awards...they are purely about sales, and this year are being presented on the red carpet before the show (that being said, I wouldnt mind if he won one! ). But to have an Idol contestant nominated in a peer-voted category is amazing, rare, and a great indication of how respected he is amongst those in the industry! And adding to Tallulah's facts...I think there may have been only 2 previous Idol contestants nominated for peer-voted awards - Joel Turner as previously mentioned, and I think Shannon Noll last year - but I couldnt tell you for what category. He is certainly the first Idol WINNER to be nominated by his industry peers ;D This is a very big deal

*nods*
It's a massive vindication and he should be astoundingly proud. I know I am.

He's automatically got 3 ARIAs already for having 2 #1 albums and a #1 single. Don't forget that

They get presented next February. Put it this way, it was February this year when the ARIA's were given out for the #1's for last year.

I have a feeling and I hope I am wrong, that Night of My Life 's last #1 was the final week of 2006 which won't get it an ARIA next February. TWJ was still # 1 for at least 1 week into 2007 which will get an ARIA next Feb. WWL will score an ARIA. It depends how AIWIY goes, if it gets to #1 then it too will get one, but next February.

Just wondering, since Shannon was nominated for a pop category, what genre of music is Damien in? Not pop, so rock perhaps? Is there a category called 'soulful'? 'Inspired'? 'Genius'? 'Fan-bloody-tastic'?
