BTW, how do the Australian Charts work? Why is Just Say So #1 in the overall Singles Chart but not even listed in the Australian Chart? The reason is because Brian McFadden is not Australian. The Australian Chart is only for Ausralian artists. Just Say So was #1 in the overall chart with over 20,000 copies sold, but did not feature in the physical singles chart because he hasn't got one (all his sales were digital), or in the Australian chart because he is Irish. Damien sold 1,204 copies in total, including 980 physical cds to come in at #1 on the physical chart, #13 on the Australian artist chart and #65 in the overall chart. auspop.blogspot.com/2010/04/chart-watch_19.html

I thought they just had to release their song through an Australian record company? Or live in Australia? Or something? Does that mean NOML wouldn't have been in the Australian charts, because D wasn't an Australian citizen when it was released? How did the FF EP get to #2 in the iTunes Pop Chart if the digital sales have been that low compared to physical? :-\ Thanks for the info. (Especially #65 in the overall chart, I was wondering about that.)

Does that mean NOML wouldn't have been in the Australian charts, because D wasn't an Australian citizen when it was released? Thanks for the info. (Especially #65 in the overall chart, I was wondering about that.) The lines are a bit blurred regarding whether someone is counted as Australian or not. NZ artists tend to be considered Aussies as far as ARIA is concerned most of the time (Evermore, Lady Hawke). Sometimes UK singers are if they live in Australia for long enough. Damien was considered Australian right from the start of his recording career, as he was living in Australia when he won idol, and for a few years before, and of course he became a naturalized citizen early in 2007. Brian does not have the red spot next to the song title on the ARIA singles chart to signify he is an Australian artist. www.ariacharts.com.au/pages/charts_display_singles.asp?chart=1U50It seems he hasn't spent enough time in Australia to be considered an Australian. The highest entry with that Aussie red spot is Vanessa Amorosi at #34, and that's why she came in at #1 on the Australian Chart. www.ariacharts.com.au/pages/charts_display_australian.asp?chart=1U20AUS&chart2=1A20AUSYou can see if you look down the list on the Australian Chart that ALL the entries are from Aussie artists. How did the FF EP get to #2 in the iTunes Pop Chart if the digital sales have been that low compared to physical? :-\ Yes the EP got to #2 on the itunes album pop chart, and #8 on the all genres itunes album chart in its first week, but unfortunately album sales are very low on itunes as most people still prefer to buy their albums physically. Even an album at #1 on itunes often gets less than 500 downloads. The EP was doing well, as people downloaded it enough to move it up the album chart, but the song itself was not getting enough downloads to appear in the Top Song chart. A song has to do well on the song chart to get enough downloads to impact on the ARIA chart, as around 97 percent of songs are downloaded these days. And unfortunately Forgive Forget has never been inside the top 300 in the itunes singles chart. Radio play seems to be the main problem. It is not getting enough air time.

It is getting basically NO air time.
C'mon you radio stations. Give it a play every 6 hours or so.
thank you Irishcharmer for your detailed response.
