Thanks for all the good wishes everyone, it was a great night! Really lovely cosy happy Christmassy atmosphere and beautiful venue and staff - a
funtarstic show!
Am just uploading some pics & will add them to the photo gallery but here's a gorgeous one of Damien for here to start with!
Lots of laughter, beautiful singing and songs, Damien was in fantastic form & Eric was great alongside him. I love the way they both relate on stage - their friendship is so warm, they read each other so well & create such magic!
Stunning start to the set tonight with
I Still Miss Us aaaaaaah absolutely beautiful acoustic version!! I don't think I've ever heard Damien sing this one live, it was an amazing beginning!
Next
Golden Line! another one we were all so thrilled to hear!
Two more songs I'd never heard Damien sing before!
Only the Lonely and
Crazy Love!!!
Aaaah - again just magic live and both songs really stunning. Damien performed
Beautiful and
Crazy Love on the keyboards and then came back for more on the guitar.
Lovely lovely lovely duet with Eric with
Why Worry - as they longingly looked at each other's eyes as always the show had so many funny moments and then the next you'd be transported away again, it's such a unique way Damien has as a performer and we heard the staff at Lizottes raving about him later about how funny he was as well as an amazing singer, which we all well know!
Wonderful wonderful songs, it was quite a varied setlist and Damien often asked if there were any requests.
Baby I Love Your Way was a request from the audience and though Damien said he might have trouble remembering it, he gave it a go - and totally made up the 2nd verse
singing something like
"wish I had the lyric written on my hand, just like when I was at school, and cheating on an exam" Eric's baby (The National guitar
) was there so we knew there would be another treat waiting in store -
Romeo and Juliet!
Very very funny moment mid-song when Damien and Eric went to do the finger click thing they do together at the "and bad company" part (their boy-band move
) and the choreography somehow went
very astray - they both totally cracked up as did we
- but then launched straight back into full gorgeousness mode
Wicked Game was
fantastic - and to top it off Damien added in
KISS for good measure
- we loved it of course
- and made that well known Still during
Wicked Game, lots of really funny moments as Damien
tortured the audience sectioned us off to sing the sing-a-long bits - was very funny, some sections of the crowd tried to escape by not singing (Damien having none of that
) and the section up the back - well...
-
- I think Eric mentioned something about the Doppler effect...
After the show Damien stayed back for a signing and there was a long queue to meet him and buy the CDs etc, was fantastic to see! Though he must have been so tired from the travel you'd never know it, he spent time with everyone which was so appreciated
It was a really lovely ending to the evening and wonderful for everyone to be able to see him and wish him a very Happy Christmas in person. :xmascheers:
Was such a great night, so great to see all the gang from here who came tonight and then Damien and Eric. I'm still feeling all the lovely Christmassy feel hours later - & just want to go back and do it all again!
There were so many great songs, there were many more than I've mentioned but for now this is just a little report at least for tonight of the view from the rowdy front table
