SORRY, ALONE, GOODNIGHT!! Awesome!! Thanks for the reports, OMG sounds like it was a brilliant night. Sorry to hear that D had the lurgy, hope he feels better soon it amazes me how he manages to still be able to sing so beautifully, even with a cold!! Great to hear that more of the Damienites were able to attend this show! and your Hut certainly is a bit different to the ones I've attended in the past!! time to sort that one out I think!! Can't wait to hear what Kazza got up to? ? sounds intriguing! were you on stage with Damien? did I read right? I'm glad D forgot the words (if he did) to Annies Song, I hope he forgets them all at the BM next month!! Off to check out the photos

Wow, some fantastic songs there that I would love to hear live!! Alone ~ one of my all time faves; Tenterfield Saddler ~ just love that song and would love to hear D sing it live; Sorry ~ so good to see that Damien opened with an original RJ song ... keep it up!! Songbird ~ heard it once in Perth many years ago, and would love to hear it again, one of the prettiest songs Damien has sung IMHO! I thought everyone would be at good old "Rooty Hill", sounds like a place where a rollicking good time would be had , so I am glad that a few extras were able to go at the last minute! Loved the hut pic Shims ~ Damien was certainly keeping an eye on Kazza, and it sounds like he needs to be the comments made above!! hmmmm, she might be invited along as part of the show!

Tenterfield Sadler how exciting plus Sorry and Alone. Sounds like a wonderful set list. Hope Damien shakes of his lurgy vanishes soon. Never heard that before. My granny always said "Have you got the dreaded lurgy?" she was English, not Irish

Excellent reporting on the night Braffy (boy you were fast!), Shimmery and Michele. There's nothing much else to add except hubby and I were once again in 7 x (seventh heaven Lol). I loved the song choices and was so wonderfully surprised by the appearance of a few songs, especially in the first set that I haven't heard for ages... and which I luuuuurve Funny though... we got to the concert room just after the official start time and the big doors were shut. But as the attendant opened the doors familiar notes and lyrics wafted to my ears and I gasped to hubby "That's Damien's song and he's not singing it!!@ OMG I don't want to listen to a warm-up person singing Damien's songs... let's go and have dinner and come back when he's on..." (thinking about having D's performance time getting reduced) BUT then... Damien's voice taking over the singing of "Sorry" stopped me in my tracks and I said " THAT"S HIM!! and we almost missed him" as I dragged poor hubby through the doors. "Sorry" was one of the songs that I have really grown to absolutely love and what a thrill to hear it that night. I'm so glad that Braffy listed all the songs cause as usual my mind just goes blank trying to remember them. What I do remember are the little sighs of happiness and poignancy that I get when the words, the music and Damien's voice settles upon me inthe dark. Kazza invited us to sit near her where a couple of seats were mysteriously vacant (thanks!) but hubby and I were quite content snuggling in the back seats We always get that way in Damien's concerts, I find "If Tomorrow Never Comes" is one of those songs that does it to me... but nothing gets past "Beautiful" siiiiigh and Cesar's Chilean pipe (recorder?) was mesmerising - the same tune/arrangement as the violin solo . The whole song was just sublime... dare I put another one in this space??... yeah! ... Lol sorry, it deserves two more!! What a treat to have Steve on the drums. It was so obvious that Eric and Damien, especially, were having a great time on stage getting into the beat. Damien was really dancing around the stage The fun was so contagious. I hope it's something that can continue. Just one improvement could be made, IMHO... perhaps tone down the volume of the backing instruments just a tad as it overpowered D's voice at times - takes away the focus sometimes. Having said that though, I'm not taking anything away from the band's performance. I take my hat off to Cesar and Steve to jump into the show like that and accompany Damien and Eric so skillfully. They've really got incredible musical talents. Good to see the sales of books and cd's going to many happy hands at the end of the night too. Poor Eic, straight after the show he had to jump from performing to grabbing the box of merch and taking on the sales table! Man, he can move fast! Thanks Damien and band for a terrific show to start 2011 for me. ps... Lol... just noticed I started this post with "There's nothing much else to add"

Well then lots of things have been covered. The man is more gorgeous than ever he just keeps getting better with age Talking about age..Damien says well something happened to me 10 days ago so of course I pipe up you had a birthday which of course got the witty banter happening,he then points out that Eric had a birthday and can anyone guess his age,Eric immediatly points to Michele and I and say not you two so of course the lady beside me asks do I know,I can't tell you I said So then someone in the audience decides we should sing Happy Birthday to them oh wait that was me so I start singing just so I can embaress myself of course... and hardly anyone sang along but hey what the heck I had fun . I love the way Damien taps his foot to the music I love sitting that close that I can hear the tap, tap, tap . At interval the lady beside me asked do I know Damien,I never answer yes to this question as after all I am just a fan,so I sort of dodged the question but Eric sort of Blew it when he came down to us at interval and kissed us hello so she sort of knew how keen we were.I did a bit of pimping She asked about the book RJ and I told her it would probably be on sale after the show she was so excited,I saw her afterwoods and she was floating on air after meeting D and getting her book signed. Now when Damien sung everybodies Talkin he tried to get the audience involved but they were a quite bunch so even though I know some of you don't like the toot, toot eventually I yelled out that I think he should add the Toot,Toot which he said I think your right,so off we went toot tooting and everyone loved it. I loved everysong on the setlist Michele even asked me had I requested them as there was so many of my favs but I didn't ask for any. I had a ball swaying along with Shims and Michele and you could see the little looks and Smiles from Damien acknowledging us swaying along, you can't help yourself you just get caught up in the music. The rest of the band were fantastic and I agree with Nuffy about how loud the instruments were I think Erics guitar needed to be just a little bit softer or D's mike turned up as it was very hard to hear him at times. Okay thats enough out of me I had a blast so thankyou to all of you that were there.

Shims > Funny moment too, Damien mentioned that he wrote that song as a gift for someone, and it was a stage he went through giving songs as gifts, to which Eric said that he gave him one once too - and Damien said straight back ,yes, was a special song devoted to him called "I Love Eric's ponytail"Damien or Eric went on to say that he had sold it on eBay, then Eric added that he had swapped it for something - a kettle All these funny bits and pieces are coming back.

Damien and Eric can certainly be real dags - they have an excellent banter and its beaut to see that hilarious side of them, I'm sure people appreciate it and it shows another string to Damien's bow, his wonderful sense of humour!

Kazza & Michele, just loved singing and swaying with you guys too, didn't we all have fun!! I really like showroom shows, they're usually so relaxed and you can let your hair down and just have a blast, just loved it. Such a bonus surprise even being there , I really came to life as I was so glad to be there, it was a great night! P loved the rockier songs as well as the acoustic and really enjoyed the band lineup with drums added, his favourites along with Sorry were Stairway to Heaven & the new version of Alone. We both really enjoyed all the songs though, especially the chance to hear the rare ones I forgot that bit about Eric selling Damien's song on eBay lol, there was a lot of good banter the other night. I loved how Damien said "Yes, good idea" in the middle of the song when he heard Kazza's "toot toot" and then got the audience doing it too, lots of great little moments like that! I forgot one of my favourite moments, when Damien was saying he was going to count the audience in for a singalong bit - I'm all for Damien's unique, some may say unconventional , method of counting - where you never quite know what count it's going to be He said, "I'll count you all in on 3..." then he looks sideways... "or... maybe 4" It totally cracks me up every time and then you see the poor bewildered audience trying to figure out when they're meant to come in, after all these shows I never know either - but I wouldn't have it any other way This was Steve's (drums) debut performing with Damien, but a few of us have seen him previously playing at Eric's Dire Straits show. Lol, on stage Damien said he was "the last Irishman standing" surrounded by all the Chileans Was great seeing everyone who was there, thanks again for a fantastic night
