Show began with Diana singing : Natural Woman, If We Never said Hello, Songbird, Mirror Mirror, Your Woman, Tuesday, Am I Heading in the Right Direction. We've been told to keep an eye out for something coming up for Diana....Damien almost accidentally spilled the secret, but managed to check first and stopped himself amidst many laughs.
Different entry tonight as D didn't wear the sunglasses and after the first 2 songs proceeded to explain how he's almost tripped and/or fallen on various occasions and he doesn't know how Roy did it. Straight into
*You've Got It and
*Only the Lonely the audience were very vocal and showed their loud appreciation
Talked about Kikki and what a delight she is and how she looks at him and thinks about the times she's going to give Damien with her boyfriends. Also talked about DWTS and how dancing's so much a part of their lives as D dances across to change the nappy
. So decided to give Damien his gift which had a note about "remember telling us about keeping the kids entertained by dancing for them when you were minding them, how much better will it look in these" + to the most handsome, gorgeous, sexy......and Damien filled the rest in....of course repeating the first part
He then talked about how I've given him some interesting gifts, especially the one he thought was a nose warmer
but he was mistaken
Also mentioned about recording in Nashville
Next came * Dream Baby after Chris played the intro from the record...and a pause and as we had all the regulars back explained about recording back in Australia with the Chilettes (Chris is also included in the chilettes now) and they sang
*Love Hurts
D also mentioned how even after 3 kids his hips were like bricks
but that improved after DWTS and demonstrated at the start of
*Working for the Man. Diana came back and they sang
*Blue Bayou
Damien then mentioned how he'd like to sing a couple of his originals and how his family was the inspiration for
*Beautiful (just gorgeous with the 2 flutes) and we were then treated to an impromptu
*Stairway to Heaven with Cesar and Steve doing the intro on the 2 flutes....this was awesome. Then talked about a song from "Remember June" which came about after the death of an uncle
*Goodnight
*In Dreams was next and Braffy gave D an encouraging "Going well Damo"
Damien beamed back and said "Ooooohhh thank you Braffy" ;D
Then we were treated to
*Leah
*Running Scared
They really rocked out with a terrific rendition of
*Mean Woman Blues which also included *Johnny B Good
Next the song that started it all
*Crying and a great rendition of one of my faves
*Handle With Care.......then people standing to applaud and much table thumping ( :ooops there went the drinks
) and calls of "MORE" (the same gentleman also had a very loud and enthusiastic more
)
Steve came out and did the drum solo and then the rest of the band started playing with a count down of 1...2...3...4 and a coatless D came out and into
*Pretty Woman which morphed into GLORIA and an intro to the band....and after much prompting "from the ladies in front" mentioned his show coming up on 72 some time in the middle of next month
we called out 20th
and finally
*Hallelujah (during which Eric encouraged the audience to wave their phones and cameras) and
*Going Home
A lot of folk were standing during the last song after a standing ovation for Hallelujah
Have to say the people of Mingara really did sound great and Damien said he thought they were the best he's heard.
He also had big smiles on his face spotting the folk dancing on the side.
I raced into the ladies to hear the "talk" but happened to catch a group who were talking about the poor lady who had collapsed and was on the floor in an aisle with an oxygen mask .....she was wheeled out by the ambulance folk after the show. I think Braffy had a different group.
The people at our table certainly had a wonderful time and were getting into it all.
Braffy and I were called into the backstage area by Eric, so we were able to meet up with Damien. Braffy can take over from here as I'm whacked after getting home after 2:30am
Thanks D
