Dueting it for the Kids will be a night full of surprises with a massive roster of artists collaborating for one night only at Sydney's State Theatre on Monday 22 August.

Many of Australia's greatest will be paired-off to recreate rock anthems and pop hits as duets, all to help the Australian Children's Music Foundation (ACMF) continue its important work with disadvantaged young Australians.

More iconic vocalists have just signed on to a huge line-up of stars already announced for the 2011 show including Deni Hines, Jon Stevens and 17 year-old Australia's Got Talent sensation Liam Burrows.

Damien Leith will take to the stage with opera diva Antoinette Halloran for a haunting duet arrangement of the Leonard Cohen classic Hallelujah and Liam Burrows will team with seasoned crooner Tom Burlinson to sing the Rat Pack favourite Lady is a Tramp.

Wendy Matthews will sing Stop Draggin My Heart Around with The Church front man Steve Kilbey, while rock legends Dave Gleeson of Screaming Jets fame and Angry Anderson will raise the roof with Thin Lizzy's Boys Are Back in Town.

Other artists in the phenomenal line-up include Anthony Callea, Michael Cormick, Susie Ahern, Michael, Carr, Marina Prior, Diesel, John Waters, Caroline O'Connor, Lee Kernaghan, Catherine Britt, Danielle Spencer, Dave Faulkner, Debra Byrne, Doug Parkinson, Leo Sayer, MurRay Cook, Peter Northcote, Ross Wilson, Steve Balbi, Don Spencer, Tim Freedman, Paulini, and Glenn Shorrock.
The MC's for this extravaganza will be Adam Spencer and James Valentine from 702 ABC Sydney.

Oow, back at theState Theatre for D! That should bring back some great memories for him. ;D

I've heard Antoinette Halloran and seen her on Spicks and Specks, she has a gorgeous voice! Their "Hallelujah" duet will be something very special, I think!

LOVE the idea of D dueting with other amazing artists, it's wonderful to see him doing that, especially in a good cause.

This looks like a lot of the artists from the one earlier this year, fantastic to see they have taken it to the State Theatre! Sounds like the most beautiful night of music! Would love to have gone to both/either one of these but not able unfortunately. Hopefully a few can get there and enjoy this!

A rollicking evening of performance from television stars and local musicians will raise funds for the Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF) to continue its work with disadvantaged young Australians.

Dueting it for the Kids features Damien Leith, Deni Hines, Jon Stevens, Anthony Callea, Liam Burrows, Angry Anderson, Michael Cormick, Susie Ahern & Michael Carr, all performing rock anthems and pop hits in dazzling duos.

Damien Leith and operatic diva Antoinette Halloran will perform a soaring duet arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, while 17 year old Australia’s Got Talent star Liam Burrows will team up with Tom Burlinson to sing the Rat Pack favourite ‘Lady is a Tramp’, as well as many other exciting pairings.

Adam Spencer and James Valentine from 702 ABC Sydney will MC the charity event, which will fund AMCF music programs for disadvantaged and Indigenous youth across the country. The foundation was established in 2000 by Don Spencer, responding the lack of professional music teachers in schools across the country.


Founder Don Spencer said about the charity, “Each week, our incredible teachers provide music education for children who, in many cases, have suffered severe physical and emotional abuse almost impossible to comprehend. Through music we bring joy, enhance imagination and creativity and give these children the chance to dream.”

Glenn A. Baker praised last year’s event, saying, “The Dueting it for the Kids concert conjured up a rare spirit both on stage and in the audience and sent all away with a sense of privilege for having been involved or even just present.

“It was driven by a remarkable coalition of talent, cutting across musical genres and generations. It soared operatically in the right places and rocked royalty in others.”

The event will be held at the State Theatre, Sydney, on Monday August 22. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster, or by calling 131 100.

What a fantastic cause to be involved in. Don Spence found a gaping hole in our society and this is excellent publicity for his programs for those kids.
Isn't it phenomenal seeing Damien actually headlining this event as far as many articles go when there are so many other brilliant and long respected artists on the bill too? I wish I could've gone to this one.

I so wish I had been able to hear this performance (I'd registered online too). I, like many of us, have been wanting to hear D dueting with fine, acknowledged female voices for a while, and how FAB he actually sang two songs, one with the wonderful Wendy Matthews and another with gorgeous Antoinette Halloran! Would have been something really special! ;D

Hopefully we'll get to hear him doing something like this for charity elsewhere one day.

Mind you, dueting on "Blue Bayou" with Jess Chalker in his "Roy" show currently is just lovely!
