Have downloaded it too! It's definitely called "When A Child Is Born " and it's lovely! Damien and Tommy sound great together. D's pure, gorgeously toned vocals, plus Tommy's magical guitar and then his spoken verse all combine wonderfully. I know what I'll be playing on Christmas Day! ;D Psst, Roxles, is it time for the Christmas smilies to make an appearance?

Thanks so much for the link Braffy... unfortunately it won't open if you click on it BUT You can still find it if you type into the youtube browser "Damien Leith Tommy". It'll pop up in the search! ... the video played !!! siiiiigh... Thanks to the mystery uploader!!! What a sublimely lush and gorgeous rendition of a classic carol. I love their combined vocal and acoustic guitar purity and rich tones and emotions. The little changes to the rhythm really make it fresh yet still wonderfully familiar. I really hope Damien does this (with Tommy) at Carols in the Domain this year

This is being released as a single tomorrow. Not quite sure exactly what that will mean. Click here to see the (high res!) cover art. Thanks to auspOp for the pic. Here is the article that goes with it: TOMMY GETS LEITHAL Wednesday, December 07, 2011
Fans of both Aussie guitarist Tommy Emmanuel and singer Damien Leith will be wanting to stuff this little festive nugget in their Christmas stockings this year (not that one can pop digital tracks in a Christmas stocking). 'When A Child Is Born' is a cover version of the classic Christmas track that was popularised in the 1970s by Johnny Mathis. This cover version was borne of an incredibly brief recording session back in October (Sony tells us it was but two hours long) and sees both performers putting their personal touch on what's a personal favourite for many seasonal fans. 'When A Child Is Born' will hit digital retail this Friday.auspop.blogspot.com/2011/12/tommy-gets-leithal.html

Just watched this on Youtube and as far as Christmas songs go I think it is terrific. Damien voice seems to be getting better and better. Ya --Hope he sings it with Tommy at the Christmas Carols shows

The only jarring bit is Tommy's vocal, IMHO. I think it would have been better in Damien's voice (and that isn't a fan talking, just from the POV of the sound).

Tommy's speaking voice is very bassy, more than D's, and to me it fits nicely. I see the song as the sum of it's parts, each quite different, yet the total package works. In fact, I was listening to it recently in the car (and yep, I'm in a fairly emotional place right now), but it had me in tears. It's such a profound lyric, such a heartfelt wish for peace and love beautifully expressed by two very different, yet complementary artists, IMO.
