FANBLOODYTASTICWhat an awesome show. The place was packed out. Full house.
I don't normally talk about the support artists but of all the ones that I have seen (and that is many) ..........
Mick McHugh is by far the best. He was so engaging. His songs were great and he had a story to tell also.
He is Irish too, and they just have a knack of storytelling and singing.
Damien's segment started with the 2 big screens on both sides of the stage coming to life with the Roy tribute video introduction. then they came out.
It was the full band of Eric, Steve, Cesar and Chris. Damien was wearing his painted on black jeans, a lovely white shirt and a black jacket. He looked
Set List:
You Got It
Only the Lonely
Then Damien mentioned being backstage and hearing his voice come on the video and he said how could we understand what he was saying
"Even he couldn't understand it
Also the fact that we had Mick McHugh on first and then his voice.
Sweet Dreams
Love Hurts
Damien then had some banter with the audience about his hips and dancing and how he had learnt some moves.
He did some demonstrations with the massive left hip swing.
Working For The Man
Beautiful - he mentioned how it had been used in the ad and how he had written it after Idol for his family and Kikki even though she wasn't born yet.
Kikki is starting to stand up and take 2 little steps. Eileen and Damien are not wanting her to walk yet. they remember how excited they were when the boys started walking but from then on they have been running.
Following Beautiful I delivered a gift bag to the stage that had been to me to present to Damien from our resident giver of gifts.
It was a pair of Boxer Shorts with hand glued hearts all over them. Written on each heart was the name of an original song of Damien's, a CD name or a member of DLO's name.
Yes, you are all on there.
Damien then mentioned how he had been getting gifts around the country and he mentioned the nose warmers. Much
from the audience.
Stairway to Heaven
Damien then wanted to get intimate - and then mentioned not the boxer shorts kind
but he put down his guitar and just mesmerized the audience with
In Dreams
Leah
(Mesmerizing)
All the boys were in a line playing guitar for Leah and they did a special dance move during it. Damien commented on it after the song and Eric said Yes, we were dancing with the star
Running Scared
With guitar again then
Mean Women Blues
Crying
Handle With Care
They left the stage but wouldn't be allowed to get away with that so when they returned
Pretty Woman with crowd singalong
Hallelujah.
Standing ovations at the end. The crowd totally enjoyed it.
Hallelujah, Crying, In Dreams, Running Scared and Leah were breath taking. Total silence form the audience. They were in awe at the notes that Damien held.
There was a signing at the end and it was there that I was able to hand Damien the card with the information regarding the previous Birthday appeal for the Special Olympics.
When he saw the figure raised so far since we started doing it, his jaw
He was astounded and very grateful.
I will post photos during the week after I am home.
It was lovely to catch up with Smiley again and Damien spotted her from the stage and gave her one of his beautiful smiles of acknowledgment, even though Mr Smiley reckons the smile was aimed at him. ;D
Tamworth was a very happy place tonight and they all appreciated the fact that Damien had finally got there.
