Damien Leith’s album recording sessions
There are special moments in this job, no doubt about it, but sitting in the studio with Damien Leith felt like a privilege last week. Leith, who is still putting the final touches on his debut studio album, is one of those people who manages to be humble & self deprecating even in the midst of glimpses of his extraordinary talent.
When he performed a couple of impromptu songs inside SonyBMG’s recording studio in East Sydney-singing so beautifully, then tinkering on the piano- there was a sense of being part of something truly extraordinary. Leith then sat down at the mixing desk, to give S a preview of some of the tracks on his album. When we heard the tender and heartbreaking I Still Miss Us , it was hard to maintain my composure-there were tears in my eyes. So much for keeping your cool during an interview!
Leith’s first single 22 Steps, was released to radio on Friday. Work is continuing on the full-length album, which is due out in August. The singer-songwriter, who has written the bulk of the album, has even included a last minute song written for his newborn son Jagger. It’s been a wonderful time for Leith, centered on the culmination of an intense creative process, but listeners can also expect something special.
Given the strength of the material we previewed, there’s no doubt Leith’s album will be huge.

God! I can't wait til this album comes out.
