Technical help please? Hi guys, I just wanted to know if any of you know how to extract an audio file from a video if you have a Mac? I could try to make make a couple of nice audio files from fairly dotty videos if I knew how. You can extract audio with iMovie - BUT you can't seem to save it or paste it into another document after that, just move it about in the same original clip. So, I'm stuck! I don't want to muck up your thread with technical stuff Chris, just wasn't sure where else to ask and it seems sort of on-topic? Anyway, any help would be appreciated Now - back to Christyl and thanking her for this lovely audio! Hi Shims, I did try extracting and in the end found that the only way to do it effectively seems to be to just outright convert it from a movie file to either an MP3 or a WAV file. I will email you, ok? ...and you all are sooooo welcome. Now YOU can be equally tormented by not being able to get it out of your head! haha. How funny is this? I was over at a friend's this morning learning how to do some fancy shcmantzy stuff with Powerpoint, and I was using "Beautiful" as the backing on it. My friend's partner came in and listened to the song just the once, but was then heard at various times around the house singing the chorus all through the morning as he did his chores. ...do we have any doubt at all that it would be a HUGE hit??

Shimms there are programs to do the conversions on the net which most offer free demos --- not sure which one is suitable for Mac you might want to do quick search -- but if you can load video to youtube -- I can convert for you...to mp3

OK, I've managed in the meantime to pull out an audio file from the massive video file I made of Damien performing Beautiful at Star City on Friday 23 February 2007. It has a longish introduction from Damien talking about Idol auditions and then intro'ing the new song. Warning - we are still trying to tweak the crackling and I'm sorry for the people around me (not me - Popeye!!) screaming and singing along on the odd occasion .... But doesn't sound toooo bad overall. www.megaupload.com/?d=RRGG3NMGNB - It is a .wav file. I think you'll find Damien has since changed the ending a bit in the later shows - at Seagulls he does more of a rising coda which sounds pretty terrific - this earlier version is a bit more restrained.

I actually hadn't listened to Christyl's version and this one next to each other until now - it seems like they have dropped the band back a lot by the time it got to Seagulls and it is not overpowering Damien's voice as much as it did at the earlier concerts (which is good!) - i think the Seagulls version is going to be closer to the final recorded version rather than the earlier version at Star City ....
