Oh boy, had a somewhat unforgettable start to the day.....Left home Friday morning (yes Morning) and made great time down to Castle Hill, but went to look for my distance glasses to read the unknown street signs aaaah but where were my glasses errrrrrr where was my handbag? Had packed suitcase, clothes on hangers, long life milk, little freezer carry bag with lunch and breakfast, street directory, gps, bottle of water, but......."You Got It" no handbag !!!! arggghhhh (no licence, credit card for hotel, money amongst other things ) Rang Braffy and told her I would be later than anticipated and why and my son who'd taken bubby home after a sleep over and was shopping. He said he'd ring me when he got back to my place....anyway long story shorter...he met me at the Toronto exit onto the F3 after I drove back to there and then drove back to Castle Hill and a 90 min journey became 5 hrs straight driving got to the Hotel at 4:15pm

Well after my specially stupid start to the day I unpacked after ringing Braffy and wolfed down my lunch and a cuppa and had a shower (to cool down and wake up ) and had a rest on the bed while I waited for Braffy who was upholding the damienite tradition and after she arrived we headed off to the club and had dinner. Of course Braffy ran into people she knew and a couple were on the same table and we had a chat. A lovely lady came to our table to say hello and I apologise for my initial reaction of . The lovely Angela was taking her second chance to hear Damien perform. So was very special, and after hugs and kisses with us, she went back to help the lady in a wheelchair whom she was helping keep an eye on ;D
Support act was Jess Chalker
Then the band came out Eric, Chris, Steve and Cesar with Damien in dark charcoal jacket, shirt, jeans and black shoes
When Damien was singing You Got It an elderly gent at the front of the next table got up and was dancing he obviously was enjoying himself and continued to do so every so often
Damien talked about the baby boom in the band and happened to mention in Eric's case He was the baby
After NJFTW he talked about his trip to Nashville, Meeting up with Barbara Orbison and how he is still cowriting over skype.
With the really high notes he reached in Only the Lonely he mentioned how he was wearing his very tight pants tonight
With Beautiful he talked about Estee Lauder using the song in their campaign over the last while and also talked about the success of Eils and her ascent on Kilimanjaro and how proud he was of her reaching the apex and how it was on FB.
With Everybody's talking we were coerced into the wah waaaah wah wah wah part and Night of My Life was another different version with Chris doing a piano solo in it.
The crowd really especially enjoyed the Rocky Road to Dublin with much clapping and stomping
After the beautous harmony of Leah the guys in the band wandered off for Damien's Intimate Time

So decided to give Damien his intimate gift "hop hop here's for the easter bunny all perky and upright" So decided to give Damien his intimate gift "hop hop here's for the easter bunny all perky and upright" Oh good another face mask!! noooooo! he did work it out though
Damien also talked about the fact that his mam was in the audience and he dedicated 'To Make You Feel My Love' to Angela
When Damien did All I Want Is You he played the higher and higher game, so we encouraged him....yeah let's sing it higher ^ and again higher..... think that was the highest I've ever heard and the audience were giving it their best shot and more folk were getting up to dance in Pretty Woman and had needed to encourage them back to do that song.
A great time was had by all and Braffy handed a couple of cards to the ladies at the next table who were almost and definitely throughout the show. As soon as Braffy and I stood up at the end a lot of smitten ladies down the front jumped up.
As Braffy mentioned no songs from RJ
But Damien did announce the sales and meet and greet up the back Oh good another face mask!! noooooo! he did work it out though

At the end of the Show, we went up the back and had a chat with Angela again and got to say hi to Shims, bf and Shim's cousin and also had a chat with Damien. I also bought Now and Then for my friend Marcia, who has just had a knee replacement so Damien signed that for her she was tickled pink. Damien did mention that we had a better chance for requests at the shows like Lizottes Was lovely to catch up with people and terrific to see Damien live again So don't forget to try and get along to one of his upcoming shows although I believe the official site doesn't have Hornsby up there yet! on April 5, 2013

Wow Dawn, what a start to the day, so much driving, you must have been exhausted, I'm so glad things turned out ok for you though, what a bummer leaving your handbag behind
It sounds like it turned out to be a great night and it was fantastic that Angela was there.

It was such a lovely surprise when Angela walked over to us at our table before the show started. It was so nice to have a mini catchup.

Other than the last few weeks of Idol and the winning night at the Opera House Angela had only seen Damien in concert once at the State Theatre in 2009 so this was an exciting night for her.

Damien was thrilled to have his Mam there and referred to her presence a few times through the show.

How proud they both were and there was a great vibe with the concert.

It was nice to see Shims and bf again and to meet Shims' cousin.

It was a coincidence that my bestie's sister was there with her hubby. Dawn and I had dinner in the bistro and I wasn't looking at who was next to us and they spoke to me first. They were also going to Damien's show (they have been to other shows of D's) and as it turned out their seats were next to Dawn.
They had a good time too.

The gentleman doing all the dancing was having a ball. I was tempted to get up and dance with hm. I think if Damien had played See You Again then I would have done so. That song is a real get up and dance song.

Damien has assured us he will do some songs from Remember June at the SOLO shows and they will be good venues to get your requests heard and played.

Solo shows will be at Lizotte's Sydney (Dee Why) 23rd March, Lizotte's Newcastle (Lambton) 6th April, Lizotte's Central Coast (Kincumber) lunchtime 7th April. Brass Monkey Cronulla 9 and 10 May and at the Clarendon Katoomba 18th May.

There is one more show with the band and that is at Hornsby 5th April.

Dawn's gift got the usual response. Huge laughter from the audience and red face and laughter from Damien. Unfortunately, the photo doesn't do the item justice. It had elastic straps at the back.
