I am back.......
Wet, wet, wet and just to make sure you knew what the weather was it was raining very heavily.
Unfortunately Morgs wasn't able to make it after all so a late phone call to Shims meant that Shims and b/f were here along with Michele and Kazza plus me.
Eileen was also there and she looked STUNNING. She looks so healthy and fit and leaves on Tuesday as part of her Two Mums and a Mountain climb with raising money for the Special Olympics.
Damien mentioned to me after the show that there would be an article in the Sunday Telegraph today about Eileen and the climb. The equivalent Melbourne paper is the Herald Sun I believe but I don't know if it will be in that one too, but keep an eye out for it Melbourne peeps.
Jess Chalker once again was the support act and tonight she was in fine form. Her voice sounded so pure.
I must also say that tonight was a
FULL HOUSEThe set list is very similar to the previous show but there are SOME exceptions.
Unless You Say So
You've Got It
Not Just For The Weekend
Damien mentioned that he has been having weekly Skype sessions with Joe Melson who was a co writer with Roy Orbison on a lot of his songs. including --
Only the Lonely
Damien then mentioned that he usually tries to set a goal at the start of each year.
There was banter on the stage as to what it was this year and I believe the result was a tan.
I also believe Damien wants to run in the NY Marathon.Damien then spoke about the song that he wrote for his wife and family and how Estee Lauder are using it in their world wide advertising campaign for Beautiful PerfumeBeautiful
Everybody's Talking with audience participation
Night of My Life - new arrangement and thrown into the setlist during the soudcheck/rehearsal.
I quite liked it and if any of you remember the 'country' version, well it was a lot better than that
I'll Be Your Baby Tonight
Leah
The band left the stage
Damien then spoke about the intimate part of the evening and that in the past he has been given some very intimate things, undies - mens, and a mask that he found out that the big long thing at the front wasn't a mask after all He's still not sure what to do with it.For All Of Time - sounded soooooo good with just Damien.
Shout out for requests - Running Scared, Wicked Game, Danny Boy, Hallelujah, Crying.
The noisy and quick off the mark lady
at the front table won with Wicked Game because she was the first one to call out.
Wicked Game - especially for Kazza
The band came back on
Guitar Man/Stairway To Heaven
Crying
All I Want Is You with audience participation
Damien then mentioned a song that was written for various reasons and it is a good way to end the night and say goodnight
Goodnight
They all left the stage. The audience was quite vocal with wanting Damien and the boys back on stage. Table thumping, feet stomping and glass tapping.
Pretty Woman
Someone yelled out for Creep. Damien wasn't going to do it but he said
well there is someone here who I will see if they will come up and sing it with me. Call out if you will. He was trying to find Eileen in the audience and other people were calling out and he was saying
no, that's not the voice I am trying to hear.
Anyway, he ended up doing it without Eileen because she wasn't actually in the auditorium at the time he was calling out for her.
Creep
Hallelujah.
It was a really good concert and it was lovely to see so many people there.
I would only like to make one comment.
The show started at 8.30 with Jess Chalker. By the time Jess sings and then there is a break, Damien doesn't come out until 9.15, so I feel that when there is a support act that they should start at 8 and give us 1/2 an hour extra of Damien.
It was so nice to hear those songs we haven't heard for a while but I would still like to hear MORE of Remember June. So many great songs on that album.
In saying that though there were 6 of Damien's originals tonight so that is a start to getting to hear them.
The 5 of us had a Hut at the end of the concert. I haven't been part of a Hut for so long and I really enjoyed it. We don't seem to get together too often these days so it was lovely to have that post concert vibe and catchup.
I mentioned that it was very wet. The doorway that I entered the Club and the car park where my car was is at the back of the Club. That was closed off when I went to leave and I had to go out via the front door.
I am hopeless with where I am and get lost at the drop of a hat. Eek! Anyway, I went out the front door, the others had already gone that way because that is where their cars were.
Luckily Shims was still near the front door because she was waiting for b/f to bring the car there.
While we were waiting a little golf cart/people carrier turned up and apparently it takes people to their car - BONUS - since I would have had no idea how to find mine and it was lashing down rain. So lucky me was delivered right to the car.
