Thanks so much for the info Kath. Are you going to get a copy of the book to read before October?

Yes, I assume that will be the cover - there was another book in the same catalogue that had 'not final cover' on it. I don't particularly like it as I am not fond of 'real' photos on covers, but it will be the inside that counts. Ange, the rep said he would try very hard to get me a copy - if he can, I should be getting it soon

Holy heck! This man is a danger to your bank balance! That'll be the only book I get in the near future at that price! </miser> The cover is not what I expected, and not what I usually like in a book cover, but I do kind of like it. I think it's something a lot of people wouldn't expect, which is good. The colours at least are nice and eye-catching.

I really like the Rajasthan-esque fabric on the spine and the fonts. At first look I thought the fabric of the womans dress morphed into the water in a painterly fashion which I loved....it doesnt on closer inspection, but still its quite nice. Would that be the hard back price, or have paper-backs become that expensive too? I'm sensing poverty coming on...what with singles, albums, concerts...and now books!

I thought it morphed too, winter. Nice!! and yes, unfortunately, books are that expensive, but at 600 pages should provide a few hours entertainment! Love the quote "Damien is someone who is serious about being a writer and a musician" ;D

This would be what is called a trade paperback, or one of the large ones, which now sell for $29.95 (occasionally) to $32.95 (much more common). A hardback book is usually about $50. These are the RRPs, quite often bookshops (such as ours) will discount a bit, commonly to about $24.95. It is likely to be even cheaper at places like BigW and Target, but having a job in a bookshop I have to encourage people not to shop there The books are cheap but there is no customer service and you can only get the books they have, they can't order anything for you. /rant on behalf of my job

kath, do you know if there are certain bookstores we need to buy from in order to influence "best seller" or Top 10 lists like the one in the australian newspaper? You know, kind of like aria-accredited stores?

Thanks so much for posting this Kath. I'm so looking forward to reading One More Time and it will cap off a great year of all things Damien. The cover is not what I expected and I should mention that our next project in the Graphics Alert Forum was to design a cover for the book, albeit purely for fun. Oh well, we can't compete with the 'big boys' but we can dream. ;D Huh, I love the final quote. "Damien Leith will be touring Australia on a concert tour and will be available to talk about his novel." Let's engage him in some conversation.

Hmmmmm. Good to see the publicity machine springing into action .... but I don't get the cover. The girl doesn't look like she is in Ireland or Nepal. The cover actually makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. Given it is supposed to be about a young man's journey, why isn't there a photo of a bloke ....
I'm obviously mising something so perhaps I'll just stick my head back in the box, ha!

You know, kind of like aria-accredited stores? As far as I know winter, all sales contribute to best seller lists, but some book chains produce their own best seller lists.
