Hello, some of you may have read on FB that I was seriously thinking of going to this tonight since I missed out on the Seymour Centre concert that has been postponed until next year.
I only considered it around 4.30 pm and decided at a bit after 5 to buy a ticket. It was a scramble from then on to get there in time. It was quite a well worth it journey.
I met up with Kazza and Michele in the foyer and we went and took our seats. It was a funny system and unfortunately for K & M someone else was sitting in their seats. Very front of their table. The other people weren't going to budge. Kaz had to be careful of her blood pressure but I know she was
The important things:
The support act tonight was a young lady called Suzannah Carter. She sang a lot of her own originals and a few covers. She is one of the better support acts that Damien has had. I may have her name spelt incorrectly,, but listen out for her in the future. She has a lovely voice. She was on for just over half an hour.
Damien was wearing a lovely jacket. It was black at the back and on the sleeves and the front of it was a pale grey with black banding. The black part looked like leather but I could be wrong on that. Underneath it he was wearing a white T Shirt. He had his jeans painted on in black paint.
Eric was there on stage with him.
Setlist:
I've Got A Woman
22 Steps
Catch The Wind
Halfway Heart
In Dreams
Beautiful
Lonely Nights (with a poor audience singalong that nearly ranked the same as Perth and Dapto)
Fortunately we lifted our game
CryingEric left the stageAudience request
for something from Remember June so we heard a new version of
Goodnight It was a new version because it wasn't the same lyrics as the recorded one.
A request had come in via Twitter so Damien sang
Danny BoyEric came backBaby I Love Your Way with
Fall At Your Feet woven into it.
Last Sad Song for the lady in front. I thought it was for Kaz but she said it wasn't so it might have been for the person who was sitting in her seat.
CreepHandle With CareThey left the stageEncore
Message To My Girl with apologies in advance that he hadn't sung it for about 5 years and may not remember the lyrics. It had been requested and he did a great job of it. Damien mentioned that this was the song along with Nessum Dorma that he had trouble during Idol with remembering the lyrics. They were the songs that made him extra nervous and hands shaking especially because he was playing an instrument (piano).
Stronger Than Superman I thought he sang this the
best I have ever heard it. I have heard it a few times in concert and I would hate to think how many times on the CD.
Hallelujah He had those beautiful notes happening.
Damien mentioned that things to look out for in 2015 were the play that he wrote and performed at the Adelaide Caberet a couple of years ago will be on in Sydney and he will be in it. It is called the Parting Glass an Irish Story. There will be a show 16th January ? at Joan Sutherland Theatre and then a month of Sundays in February at the Hayes Theatre in Darlinghurst until the 1st March. (Dates to be confirmed as I didn't write them down at the time)
Damien mentioned that the new album has been recorded in Ireland and that there are some duets on it and one of them is with one of the girls from the Corrs.
It would be released at the end of February/early March.
If I have forgotten anything I am sure Kazza and Michele will be able to put in their comments.
Damien did a meet and greet after the show. He mentioned that he was hungry because they had been caught up in traffic and hadn't had a chance to eat dinner.
