Well it was a fantastic night! Sold out tickets.......venue was changed to a smaller theatre, Damien said at the meet and greet this was for a few reasons...... he started to tell me but we got interrupted . I was over the moon when I saw him as the first thing he said was thank you for all the promoting on FB. He mentioned in the show to spread the word....FB , Twitter ....tell your friends. I am so glad he is doing this. I do really think the radio interview last week and response to his song (the impromptu) really helped with some ticket sales. I guess I just feel regionally needs to be more advertising done.....really want him coming back but he has to have the support. Well I am going to try and push the August 1 show in Wangaratta. The last show that was scheduled down there got cancelled.........I am sure it won't this time as word is spreading. The reasons for the cancellation I don't know either.
I know everyone does, but I certainly encourage everyone to push and promote him. Cause he is "Sensational", we all know it!
Damien has changed the format of the play....playing one role as Dad, talking about his son rather than the 2 way conversation. I don't want to say to much to spoil it for anyone that has not seen it yet.
I think you all might of seen a mention on FB about the seat confusion when we went in. People were I think directed to their rowes but had no idea of numbers on seats or where to sit. We were okay though....we were one short...but we had Glawz on board! Glawz just went up to the people sitting in our Row and asked very nicely ......to move up a seat to accomodate down our end. I was no fazed as I think so excited and oblivious to what was going on.
I took 2 friends who had never been before (Damien Virgins is what you call them Dawn ) They absolutely loved it. One of my friends is a lot younger and when she heard the interview and D on 105.7 The River, she said I had no idea who he was and how clever he was and how good he was..... I think they will come to Wangaratta. Ros said to me his voice is amazing, and she could sit there and listen to him all night.
The interaction with the audience....the audiences response was fantastic! Funny, witty, clever.......
He mentioned that it had been 9 yrs since idol......3 kids later....the audience all went awwwwwwwww at this. He mentioned before he sang Wicked Game a song that he had to done on idol the week before .....Celebration ....and he did a little re-enactment (with out the singing) jumping up and down had me in fits . He asked if anyone saw it and voted ...I said oh yer ( I did not realise how loud it was) ....that lady over there voted! Cause I did...I think someone asked him to do it.....there was a definite head nod of no!
I met a few people that I knew before and after the show who were asking which were the best CD's to buy......All,of them was my response. No for the Roy fans , Glawzy and I directed them to Chapter Seven and Remember June. They sold a few CD's I think.
Sadly Nixter could not come, a sick grandson. Such a shame. Glawzy's DD came and thoroughly enjoyed the show and bought his CD. Di, Pam and Ali, Dockloki and family all there....and also talking to the crowd ...a lot who had never seen him before.... which is fabulous.
Alleluia, Crying, Wicked Game .......were the additional songs sung . Glawzy will pop in when she gets home and add too.....won't you Glawzy
The Pens were a sell out....my other friend bought me the last one.
The high- light for me...or master 10 was I took his Jump Rope for Heart Sponsorship sheet with me. Master 10 did some artwork for Damien and asked if I thought he would sponsor him. He told his friends at school he was going to get Damien Leith to sponsor him....I was not aware of this in earlier days. I actually did not want any money...I just thought if I could get his signature on the form I would throw some in. Well, the true gentleman that Damien is (that's why we love him) did sponsor Master 10. Master 10 is on cloud 9 this morning.
All I can really say for anyone that has not been, fabulous show and fabulous response here in Albury for the first show .
I spoke to Jess ( what a gorgeous girl she is ) and Chris, missed Eric as he was selling merchandise then next thing I know he had gone. I think they were all really tired, but their generosity with their time ....we are so lucky.
