That's funny ac, while you saw Damien as being distracted this week, I thought he was the most relaxed I've seen him the whole competition. Looked to me like he'd finally "settled in" and had come to life onstage as if it was one of his regular gigs.

Shimmery: Maybe I need to watch it again. Certainly the way he performed, especially the Alex Lloyd number, was like I'd imagine him to be at a gig. Were you talking about him performing or talking to the hosts?
He was surely a lot more steady than Jessica, that's for sure. Sometimes she sings like a 25 year old woman, but when she talks she reverts to being a 16 year old girl. It's a little disconcerting.

Shimmery: Ok, I just watched it again. I think the only time Damien looks distracted is when the hosts bring up his parents after the second song... it seemed like he wanted to concentrate on the task at hand. Otherwise, very comfortable, and I think his performances were excellent, all three. It's just that the first song didn't allow as much in the way of dynamics, and the second was more mellow, so again, we didn't get to see his full range although it was a beautiful song and performance.
But that third song was perfect. Two or three times I got goosebumps.

I agree.....your first two songs were awesome and enjoyable, but they werent exactly major 'moments' and they didnt really blow me away, if you know what I mean. My mum was saying that she thought Jess had done better last night, and I even almost thought that.......until your version of the single. It was amazing....it sounded great with your voice, like it was written for you. And it already FELT like your song....i could just picture it -you lookin' hot on the Idol stage, glitter falling everywhere and singing 'Night Of My Life'.....perfect.  You stole the show, just with your one last performance.......... xXx |

Were you talking about him performing or talking to the hosts? sorry to be so long getting back ac, I've had a crazy few days! Yes, I purely meant the way Damien was performing only. Maybe after Nessun Dorma some of the viewers thought the first 2 songs this week were somewhat subdued but I think what Damien was doing was to swing our attention back to his style of music BEFORE the big vote - I really respect him doing that now I think about it because he could have easily done a showpony vocal but instead did what we can expect to hear on his album, say. So, I love that style anyway but that was very admirable as now people know exactly what style they are voting for.  |
