My hat is off to you. To go up against that kind of talent and win, to take those kind of risks, amazing!

We must have said "I can't wait to buy your album" about twenty times tonight. Nessun Dorma was perfect. That extra couple weeks made it even better, and I don't think anyone could have put more heart and soul into the "Night of my life".

When you get to Melbourne, look me up and I'll buy you a big tankard of Guinness! We will certainly be at your concert as soon as you get here, and hopefully many more after that.

Congratulations, I will certainly remember this series for the rest of my life.

Agreed. Damien, IMO, you are by far the best talent who has ever appeared on Australian Idol. Your voice, your arrangements, your modesty and love for your family have been an inspiration. Please don't ever change. Can't wait for your album.

Looking back on it, what a triumph through adversity! Does anyone remember what Kyle said in Damien's audition, as he was overruled by Mark and Marcia? Whatever he said, I bet it must have been echoing inside his head all night, ringing in his ears, as he counted down to the dreaded moment... hahaha! It looked as though he was up all last night, too!

And I pity whoever next season's contestants are, they have some enormous shoes to fill. Finally, we have a powerful, masculine Idol. Here is what I've been waiting for the last four years, someone who didn't feel the need to be "cool", someone who knew he could sing and went out and proved it. From here on in, like it or not, every Idol will be compared to Damien Leith.
