Damien tonight was just awesome. I can't believe that in just a few weeks you have come to mean so much to so many of us. You really have reached out and touched our hearts. Tonight I was on the edge of my seat - Guinness in hand (ofcourse) - drinking way too much because I was so nervous. Tonight really did feel like the night of my life when your name was announced -I am really excited about the music you will be sharing with us now. it's so great that I will soon be able to buy your album.
I'm happy in so many ways for you - that a guy who sings the type of music I want to listen to is the Idol, a guy with such a magical voice, a guy who's a parent like me and a guy who is an ex-pat like me, has been embraced so totally by this wonderful country.
Well done - you've done us all proud - we love ya.

Hey Damien,
Just wanted to congratulate you on the win!!! Youi are a true Idol! your speech at the end was beautiful as well --- thanking your fans (apart from the important people in your life) in that awesome moment for you was so thoughtful...
I can't wait for you to come out with your first album! Will definitely be buying it and all the others to follow...

Well, D, NOW look at what you've gone and done!  You've gone on TV, and the entire country has fallen in love with you..your voice and spirit and family and grace. I haven't had much sleep either. It was after 2am Sydney time when I went to bed. I tried to sneak into the bedroom because hubby was getting up at 2.30 and I didn't want him to know I had been up all that time. Lo and behold he was already getting dressed. My typing, click clack, click clack had woken him up so he knew I wasn't there. Than at 3am I jumped out of bed 'cos I thought we had prowlers or something and realized the noise in my head must have been my screams and clapping still echoing around. Then my alarm went off at 6. Gosh I am tired. But happy. Let's not lose sight of that. Heard Damien on WSFM this morning. He is still speechless. His brother is still partying. Damien said his brother is doing it for the whole family.

PS When your Mum said you were a pacer, I nearly fell off my chair..me too, every time you were about to perform or were up for elimination..*hugs*

My sentiments exactly except I am not from Ireland and I didn't have a Guinness in my hand. eeek...okay confession time thebraff - while I am an ex-pat I'm not Irish ex-pat, I'm English ex-pat - but according to some of those trolls on the forums there's no difference (just an insignificant stretch of water called the Irish Sea). funnily right this minute I wish i was Irish ex-pat but i guess you can't choose where you're born |
