Has Damien ever thought of adding an instrumental track somewhere on his album? I somehow don't think so. But I think it would be a great addition to the album. Looking at all of the Corrs albums and 2 of the Billy Joel albums in particular. They had instrumental tracks on them. And they are really pleasent to listen to. Very relaxing. But the piece doesn't have to be a slow one either, it can have a beat to it too.
I know not that many artists are fond of doing this. Lack of instrumental talent or lack of a want to do this sort of thing I dunno. Sure I can see the artists saying studio time costs money and why waste this time on a track that will obviously get no exposure. But I can say the same for most of the non singles from every album. They hardly get any exposure but why still do them, cause it makes the album complete. And is a change from the same 4 bars repeated over and over which is 90% of music in popular songs these days anyways.
I'm not forcing Damien or anyone to do this. But I think it would be a nice touch to the album and would really show what style/direction Damien is taking.
And yes I do like to listen to music without words from time to time. Clasical to opera to instrumental tracks on albums to the few rare instrumental versions of popular tracks. Am I strange? Who knows. Haha!

I'll admit to something ... I love listening to insturmentals - it's so fun. I would LOVE Damien to do one, or at least think about doing one for one of the singles. On my MP3 player, I take the headphones out a little bit and thats when the instruments backing vocals get louder and the singer goes into the background. I love it because it's so different.
Guy Sebastian did an instrumental for Elevator Love on his single - and I find myself listening to that more than the normal song. Same with Shannon and Natalies Dont Give Up.

Hey neski, Guy Sebastian did have an instrumental track on his Elevator Love single. But it's the same music as the A-side was. I'm refering more to a totally new musical composition. Something really different. But yeah I totally agree with you there. You're spot on.

hey Jim..even though I love instrumentals, guitar and piano especially, I can't get enough of D's voice and would hate to think I missed out on hearing it on a track of an album. I think he is an amazing musician and would probably write something cool, but, goddamnit, I have to hear him SING!!

I would be really interested in hearing that too. Instrumental tracks that don't have any lyrics associated with them are a big gamble I think - with some artists, it's a disappointment to get one because it doesn't add anything to the compilation except extra time in between the good stuff, but if the artist has the talent and the creativity, it's the best way to show that off I think. If Damien's interested in doing it, I'd love for there to be an instrumental piece on a future album or single.

That would be heaps cool! I have listened to some of Damien's songs and tried to block out his voice to hear the instruments better and they sound very good. Those songs sound better with his voice in them but if he was going to do an instrumental track he'd make the instruments play more complicated tunes and I think it would be good. D makes cool tunes.

The Corrs do a great up-beat instrumental called Toss the Feathers, it's very traditional-Irish sounding, it's really fun to listen to. And I've heard some of the classical stuff Billy has done - some of it's so complex he can't play it himself If he had the family band together I think it would be great, but the Corrs all regularly play instruments and Billy Joel is the Piano Man, so considering Damien is known for his voice, particularly his falsetto, an instrumental might not work on his album. I certainly wouldn't say no if he ever did do one, though

Yeah I know what you mean Jim - but I was just saying that just to put across that I do like instrumental music. I actually find it relaxing jsut listening to someone play piano. One of my friends at school is really good at playing it, and when I was in music he would just start randomly playing one of his own pieces and it made me completely relaxed.
DAMIEN PLEASE *hint hint*

Something that one of my favourite artists did on one of their singles was an instrumental track of one of her songs, but with more complex and layered instrumentation so that it was completely different from the backing of the original. If one of Damien's songs in the future turns out to be a massive enduring hit, I think it would be cool for him to do an instrumental version of it like that, and it would probably be more appealing to the general public than just any instrumental piece. On that note, I'd really love to have an instrumental-only version of Night Of My Life the way Damien does it live. Although maybe I'd be like Trilly and bemoaning the loss of an opportunity to hear his voice.

Creep is my fave song from TWJ, it was gorgeous!!! *melts into a puddle at the memory* It was sooooo amazing!!!

Damien a cappella? Now you're TALKING!! If he were to do an instrumental, maybe a B side to a single? Like a remix? Don't mind that idea at all.
