Aria Chart Guidelines

I posted a similar thread to this but it will not hurt that I clarify everything. Before you get yourself a copy of 'Night of My Life', please read the following guidelines. It is important that you follow these guidelines in order to get Damien’s sales counted towards the Aria Chart. This Aria Chart Guideline is a courtesy of Callea University[/b]. Thank you for Meagan for letting me use it here. Drop by their forum once in awhile to say hi.

1. The ARIA chart is calculated from sales from Saturday to the following Friday. It is uploaded onto the ARIA website on the Sunday. This means that in order for your purchase of Damien's single and album to count you MUST purchase it within the ARIA week. ‘Night of My Life’ is OFFICIALLY released on Tuesday, 28th November. Therefore do not purchase it before the official release date even though you see the see it in stores already. We need to do this to make every sales count!

2. ARIA only calculates sales from certain retailers. You must purchase the single from a store ARIA collects sales data from in order for your purchase to count in the ARIA charts. Please see here for a list of stores that count towards the ARIA chart.

3. ARIA now has a digital chart that calculates online sales. So you can download the song and still have it count towards the charts. A more detailed description of the art of legal CD downloading has being compiled by the wonderful greeneyedkat_au from Callea University and is posted at the end of this post.

4. You can only buy 3 copies of the single at any one time- no more! ARIA's website states:

Multiple sales (more than three copies of a title purchases by a single customer at any one time) are ineligible for inclusion in the ARIA Charts

^ ARIA does this so that bulk CD purchases from people such as DJs don't count in the charts. Basically this means that in order for your purchase to count towards the ARIA charts you can't purchase any more then 3 copies of the single at any one time. If you wish to purchase more then you either have to purchase them from separate stores or have the cashier at the store ring through each CD separately. The cashier will give you a strange look and think you're weird, but it'll be worth it once Damien reaches the top of Aria Charts

5. ARIA does not count an online purchase of a CD from an overseas address. Which kinda sucks for the overseas fans. However, if there are some local Damien fans willing to ‘donate’ or exchange Damien’s CD, we can perhaps arrange it.

6. The ARIA charts are calculated on sales from stores to customers. Gold and Platinum accreditations are based on how many CDs are shipped to stores from the record companies. A CD reaches Gold status once 35000 copies of it have been shipped. It reaches Platinum status once 70000 copies of it have been shipped.

Legal Downloads[/u]

If you’re going to download it, please do it legally!

And download from one of the online stores that count towards the ARIA charts.

Only the lead track from the single counts towards the merged Single charts, so if you want it to count downloading just the B-side track only won’t count.

Tracks download won’t count until there is a physical version of that song released also. So don’t download before the official release date if you want it to count.

You can buy prepaid vouchers for a few of the above also, so you don’t need to have a credit card to download legally.

Bigpond - Vouchers are available in branches of Big W, Dick Smith Electronics, Tandy, PowerHouse and Telstra shops – over 350 outlets nationally, as well as in outlets of Retravision, Bing Lee, Crazy John’s, Fone Zone, Leading Edge, Video Ezy and Nextra’s chain of newsagents nationally.
BigPond Music Pre-Paid Vouchers are priced at $9.45 for five tracks and $18.90 for 11 tracks (ie. buy ten tracks, get one free).

Ripit - Purchase a Ripit pre-paid voucher from a participating retailer. Go to the www.ripit.com.au website. First time users must register to shop. Select the 'Prepaid Voucher' link in the main menu to select pre-paid voucher redemption as your payment method. You will be prompted to enter your voucher code which will allow you to start shopping. You can browse for free but must be registered and signed in to start shopping. Pre-paid vouchers can be purchased at over 3,500 stores across Australia and start from $5 vouchers.

Where can I buy an iTunes Music Card? - iTunes Music Cards can be purchased in $20, $50 and $100 denominations at Myer, Megamart, BI-LO, Kmart, Target, Harris Technology, Coles Express, Coles Supermarket, OfficeWorks, Pick'n'Pay Hypermarket or the online Apple Store.
All 3 above can be purchased from your local Woolworths store too.

JB HiFi - Vouchers can be purchased either online or in JB Hifi stores in $10, $20 and $50 denominations. To use follow these instructions on the site. Entering Music Voucher Code

so am I right in saying that we shouldn't even be purchasing it off the internet until tomorrow, or does the official release date only relate to physical copies? and even though they release it on Bigpond last night that purchases made today will not count? Sorry about my dim-wittedness, still trying to work through this hangover...

That's what I feel, Ahtobesure. You need to purchase the copy on the official release date otherwise it will not count . It's kinda dodgy I know.

I am pretty sure it means ALL Target stores in that given state. Fear me, I have actually downloaded a list of Target Stores in check in in corresponding Aria's approved list. It turns out there is 29 Target stores in Queensland -I take it that's where you're at - (I actually counted it myself). The number of Target stores pretty much matched the number of traget stores apporved by Aria.

So yeah, otherwise they would specify which one counted, like the one they did for Dick Smith Powerhouse.

I know that Callea Uni ran a very successful scheme like this....I'm putting up my hand as someone who wants to do it....to spread the D-Love all over the world! ;D

To tell you the truth, I do not mind donating few singles myself. Though I think we need to arrange it like this: say, someone lives in US will be in charge of US Damien fans - so we just need to send the donations to that one person and trust that s/he will deliver it to them (it will save in postage cost)

Well I already bought it last night off Bigpond Very annoyed actually. I wish they'd explain it better before they gladly take your money. It won't download the license so I can't even play them now and you can only burn them twice or something and only play them on the comp they were downloaded onto I'll still be buying it in the shops anyway just thought I might be able to hear it sooner.
