Hi Mods,
I've got a question about the concert treports cause I'm confused about the protocols:

Also, I have digital video of the Sydney backstage meeting which shows everyone mulling about and good footage of Damien and you can hear everything he says.
It goes for about 5 minutes, very amateur filming (some floor and ceiling) but a real hoot and I'm sure a lot of the Damienites involved would like a copy. No-one, I think, has any reason to be embarrassed - nothing stands out that much. It's a great momento of the occasion for everyone - even showing Damien's re-enactment of the grope jump

I haven't worked out how to get it off the digital tape onto the computer - we don't have the right card add-on (or brains) to work it out yet.

But when I do I was thinking of inviting by PM only those in it (plus Mods) to get the upload link from me. The condition would be that they couldn't publish the link anywhere or show it publicly, ever. What do you think?

Nuffy, thanks for asking about the protocol for posting etc.

You are right, not many people are actually posting in the correct place. Which makes it very confusing for new members, and some of the older ones even, to know where to go after such an event like the concerts.

Concert and Appearance Organiser (password thread) is for organising meetups with fellow damienites etc before an event. It is also used for posting members photos only (not photos of Damien) and for personal information. It shouldn't really be used to post a report on the concert itself. Only about the pre and post Huts perhaps.

Fan Encounters: is for posting reports on the concerts/Hut get togethers and general stuff like that.

Appearance Alert thread: is for posting of upcoming events etc, and for discussing such events afterwards...such as the concert itself, (music/songlist etc). The reason this thread is there, is so that if Damien or his family and general guests want to know what we thought of his performance or his music etc, they don't need to log in to view this. So this thread is purely about his performance and music. (not tarty talk)

In regards to your video, that could be a bit more tricky. If everyone who is involved is ok with it (you'd need their permission first) then it would be posted only in the C & A organiser thread (password protected). I personally, would want to see it first, (if I was in it) before it ever got posted.

I thought that's how to do the video - private screening by all involved but I was only going to pm the 30+ people with the link. I wasn't planning to make it available for the other members even in the C & A thread. I know they'll be disappointed but I have to respect everyone's right to privacy. So I wasn't going to ask permission for viewing via the pm since all involved will want to see it anyway

I doubt very much everyone will give permission - the group photo is tough enough to post cause some wouldn't give permission (which is their right and fine with me).

But the video uploading thingy won't happen very soon cause I really don't know how to do it yet.

I'm posting this in the Question for Mods thread and the Nov 3 Concert thread:

Sorry to have made anyone feel intruded by the videotaping during the backstage meeting after the Nov 3 Saturday night concert. Some people are unhappy about their inclusion. I cannot delete anyone from this 5 minute video so there will be no uploading. It's great you have your pictures and memories. I got chopped out of my picture so at least I have something else.

Sorry also if anyone wants to get a copy of the vid personally. I can't do that either because (1) I don't have the means and (2) it's not fair on others.
Finally, sorry I brought it up in the first place ... an innocent and naive mistake

I would love to see it too (even though it could be incriminating ) - but I understand if others have objections. No need to apologise to me Nuffy - at least you will have a funny momento of the occasion

oh wow, thanks for all the info about the video, Nuffy, I didn't realise you had decided not to send it out but totally understand if anyone had objections (though like womby I would have LOVED to have seen it!!! ).

Same with the group photos - I am wondering if there is any way to work out the logistics of permissions for it as everyone in them would love to see them, let alone the others who weren't there.

Should we send our pics to everyone in the pic or would it be simpler to have a list of those who don't require permission first - if they are in the C&A only. At least that way we could see them, I know I'd love to see as many as possible to see all the fun as they were taken as the moments continued to happen and also see if there's at least one where there's more than my eye peeping out of it from the back If you were on the list of not requiring permission first but then hated the pic of yourself once it was up, then I'm sure no one would mind if you said, oh, can you just please remove that one, I would rather it not be there, or edit me out.

Just throwing around ideas, with so many people in a lot of pics it can be hard to know what to do

Roxy thanks for all your thoughts there about whre to post concert reports. I know when I was a mod too, that was always such a tricky one as members can really get into the flow in the C&A threads with stories and it's brilliant to read but that means that the non-password areas are missing all the concert reports. For the Feb tour we had a thread for each show in Apearances for the actual chat about set lists etc and I can see you have started one for Sydney so that will be great if everyone continues with that - then adds all the stories in the Fan Encounters and more private stories (Huts etc) in the C&A as you are saying

Nuffy, though I know you are a while away from figuring out the tech side of it (don't worry either, no rush!!) but once you can do screen caps from the video, maybe then you would have some nice pics that we could see. The rules could be the same as for group pics perhaps, where with permission they could be posted in the C&A area

That might be a thing to consider as there could probably be some great stills throughout which capture many great moments we would otherwise never see.

This isn't going to make me very popular but here I go anyway. The video I understand - that was taken for someone's private use and the people in it may not feel comfortable having it distributed as they were involuntarily included.

However the group photo, in my opinion, should be allowed to be posted without anyone's consent. I find it ridiculous that a big group photo like that has to be hidden even from the private section! Bottom line if you didn't want your picture posted on the forum then you shouldn't have included yourself in the photo.

Oz, I do understand where you are coming from about the photo. I can see both sides.
When we get our pic taken in a group, we all take the risk of not looking our best or pulling a silly face or something along those lines. The chances of getting everyone looking glamourous when there was 25 of us, was slim.
However, I do understand that some people want to see the pics first before they get posted. But as someone mentioned, the logistics of that makes it really hard. By sharing it with all 25 of us, it means its getting seen anyway!
It's a difficult situation.

As for the video. I know you didn't mean any harm at all Nuffy. No one would ever suggest that and it was just a bit of fun. Some people however, are not really comfortable with it. Again, I understand both sides, but I would probably prefer the video not be posted on the forum too.
