;D Yes I went to the Seagulls concert & for me it's the best concert I've ever been to & that includes such oldies as Chuck Berry & The Everly Bros (if anyone else can remember who they are). I unfortunately caught the support act (well the first four songs anyway) prior to going out & playing the pokies until intermission. I know the chap is a friend of Damos but I was miffed because we had really pushed to get there by 2pm as that is when the concert was advertised (starting time), no mention of a 'support act'. Guess I should have known. Nevertheless when Damo came on all else was forgotten. His voice is just sooo much better live than on the tellie & what a great personality. All the numbrs he did didn't dissapoint either. He was on for an hour & a half so everyone truly got their monies worth. For me personally, I would have paid the admission price just to hear his versions of Crying & Unchained. Anyway just had 2 post & tell all how great it was & how much I enjoyed it.

Thanks Sandy - great to hear that you enjoyed the concert! But oh dear - I hope Oz doesn't see this - I unfortunately caught the support act (well the first four songs anyway) prior to going out & playing the pokies until intermission. Never mind Sandy - if you visit us more often you will be better prepared next time - and who knows, we may even convert you to a Wilko fan ;D

You just had the shits Damien wasn't on..? You would have done the same if the support act was Guy Sebastian.. or John Farnham.. OR THE BEATLES??

*pets Oz soothingly* I'm not sure why there was so much anger over the support act thing actually. Isn't a support act normal at lots of concerts? (Never been to one before myself, so I guess I wouldn't know...) I'm kind of peeved with anyone who had the chance to see Mark and didn't though, because he probably won't end up coming here, and I actually want to see him. Sure he's not Damien, but not so long ago Damien was approximately where he is now. If he ends up supporting Coldplay or something really big in the future, I really hope their fans give him a chance. *ahem* Anyway, I'm glad that the last concert went off so well. Now Damien can... well, not rest, but at least not have to perform that hard for... well, about 24 days.

Isn't it nice to see that Damien has a support act these days? He is no longer the support act!
From everything I've heard about Mark Wilkinson, it would seem that he is a very talented performer and is yet another up and coming young Aussie talent who needs a break in the music industry. Such was the case with Damien 12 months ago.

Ok, Ok everyone. Maybe it's the fact that I don't go to enough concerts BUT the ones I have been to have clearly advertised that there is a support act & who it is. That was more my point. As we were on a limited time schedule I would have appreciated that fact being advertised & then I could have made plans accordingly. Nothing against Mark personally (I wouldn't do that) but I was just so super annoyed after busting a boiler to get there by 2pm for Damo. Wrong.

I would have thought you would have been relieved that he was on if you were "busting a boiler to get there by 2pm" otherwise if it was just Damo you might have missed some of his show. At least with Mark on gave you time to settle down and relax before the show. Mark is brilliant too! And such a sweet and nice guy, I would go and see him as the main act!

Hi Sandy, Sorry if you felt everyone jumped on you. I think you will find Mark has made some big fans on this board as many forum members actually got the chance to see him more than once. I don't think they meant too much offense, sorry if you felt that. Would hate for you to feel unwelcome here. I think they were just being defensive for Mark's sake and you touched a big of a nerve. Very glad to hear you didnt miss any of Damien though. Probably a good thing Mark was the support act in that case Ok, Ok everyone. Thanks for the link Dede. Hrmph too, oz!.. Just can't let that go without a challenge! Melbourne audiences didn't whinge or insist..they"suggested" and one night he accepted, another he declined, and we happily accepted his decision..so hrmph, again.

I went to see Bryan Ferry in Melbourne many moons ago and everyone wanted him to see "let's stick together" and he refused...so when he finished his final encore and left the stage, everyone was boo-ing! I couldn't believe it! So we can be thankful that Damo didn't get that sort of response anywhere...phew!
Have to say, sometimes the support act can be a bit of a drag if you didn't know they were playing and haven't had a chance to listen to their music - not in all cases, but some. I thought Mark was fantastic and was glad to have the opportunity to see him play live and listen to his music, but having said that, I've been to concerts where I just wasn't into the support act and didn't arrive until at least half way through their set on purpose.
