I have just realised that we didn't write in this thread.
Dawn, poor soul had to be on a train at 3 am. At least I could sleep in
and met up with her on the top section of carriage 3 at 5 am. We ventured into town and it is so strange being there when a city is 'waking up'.
After buying some breakfast and the much needed coffee/tea we headed off to the Channel 7 building.
We parked ourselves near the entrance and tucked into our hash browns etc. Hardly any cars or people were around.
we saw an elf come out of the building a few times. He looked so dashing

A short time later I said to Dawn, here comes Damien walking across the road.
Dawn gave off a

He came straight to us and asked how we were. Gave us a

We asked if he might be able to get us inside. We told him that there would only be 3 of us for Sunrise because Carla was going to be coming in with some of her children but that she was sick and her little Madi was going in for surgery tomorrow (today now). He said that he knew and he was really concerned for them. We also told him that BG was not well either but she was hoping to come in for the signing.
Damien told us that his throat was sore and that he was a bit hoarse because he had been caught in the rain the previous night at a Carols performance. (see Nuffys report in Five Dock Carols thread) He didn't want to talk too much at that stage. We wished him well and he went inside.
Damien had tried to get us inside last time but we were not allowed in. That was the case for today too. Once we had established that, we then went and took up prime position in front of 'the window'. Received and sent text message from Womby and she was not far away.

when Womby arrived and we were set.
We had forgotten to ask Damien how many songs he was singing so we were excited when Paul Gray, Damien's pianist walked past. We asked him and he said just one and it would be 'I'll Be Home For Christmas'. I WILL NOT repeat what I said then.
We also asked what time he would be on and he said 7.30 (that turned out to be the time of the sound check).
When Damien entered the studio area and saw us at the window (as IF he could miss us
he acknowledged us. He noticed Womby there too.
When we were waiting for him to sing 'Santa' came out and said that they would be doing a crane shot of Damien and for us to wave
. It was really funny because we had no idea when this was going to be. Suddenly we saw Damien waving so we sort of tentatively waved saying to each other,'should we be waving now, what is going on?
Not long after and when Damien was about to sing for reql a young girl came and stood near to us and said 'I just saw you all on telly'
Womby had brought in two Santa hats
so it was decided that Womby would wear the 'naughty' one and Dawn would wear the 'nice' one.
We couldn't hear Damien very well because the speakers that they have for you to hear the show are further up the building (and we weren't moving for anyone!) We also had faith in GJ recording it. ;D

We hadn't even realised that Damien had started until we saw Paul playing the piano and tapping his foot. We decided to sway along and went by Pauls foot tapping as our guide. We had no idea what we looked like.
Going by your comments we mustn't have been too bad. The can can was not appropriate for that song.
After his song was over, we gave up ownership of the window and went back to the entrance to the building to wait for 'teh Idol'.
He came out and was really grateful that he made it through the song. We said it sounded great for what we could hear (which was almost zero). We could only hear the louder notes of IIII' llll be home.. He said that he was a bit hoarse when he recorded the song so he guessed he would have sounded the same now.
Dawn gave him her gift for Christmas and we organised for him to have a photo with Womby with Womby standing on a step (or was that 2) higher so she could get a more evenly balanced height photo. She now has it in her avatar.

A young girl (teenager) was sstanding near us too and she was wanting a photo with Damien so we took it for her.
Damien then left to go home and rest 'teh voice'. Before he left we told him we would see him later at the book signing. He told us he would be singing there
We then left to go to our Hut (Mc Donalds
) Coffee/tea/food went down well. We noticed the young girl there too and she was reading a book (hehe - THE book) We noticed that she had some parcels and she told us that she had won them on a competition on Sunrise. (An Advent competition) She was given a business card.
BG contacted Womby and was on her way in. Dawn decided that since she had left home at 2.45 am and had 3 cups of tea by this stage that she needed to 'powder her nose' so she went off in search of a suitable venue. Quite a while later we were remarking that Dawn hadn't returned and we wondered if she was lost. We said that BG should be here soon too. A short time later we then saw BG bringing Dawn back to the fold and found out that indeed Dawn did get lost.
After we had finished chin wagging we decided to head off and let the blood flow back through our
bums backsides. We also needed to check out the store. We establised that Damien would be singing outside the store. (I didn't think he needed to busk anymore
)
