My least favourite of his songs from Idol is "Never Meant To Fail", maybe because I felt there was too much instrumentation and not enough of Damien's voice, but that's just a personal preference.

My least favourite of his songs from Idol is "Never Meant To Fail", maybe because I felt there was too much instrumentation and not enough of Damien's voice, but that's just a personal preference. OK, I'm going to talk songs and not performances here There were only 2...ok, maybe 3 choices that I didnt like...the rest I just ADORED I really dont like the songs Celebration and Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word, and I'm afraid I still dont like them, even after D has done them *ducks flying objects* Dont get me wrong...I think he performed them really well (yes, even Celebration!), but it wasnt enough to convert me...the songs suck ass IMO! Interestingly enough, I also really disliked the song "If tommorrow never comes" before I saw Damien do it...I remember hearing the song choice and thinking "what the hell is this?!" But as soon as he started performing I was hooked..its by far the best version of this song I've ever heard, and I really love it now...but only D style ;D

Hmm... this is going to sound really fangirl-ish, but I really do love all his songs/performances and there isn't one I don't like. I like to listen to some more often than others, but there are aspects about all of them that I enjoy. Even Celebration - and I'm not mentioning that in particular because of all the... baggage that goes with mentioning that performance, but because I too hated that song before Damien sang it, and now I like it a lot more than I used to. I even occasionally bother to listen to Kylie's version now!

I don't like Unchained Melody, even with D singing it. But that stems mostly from my utter hatred of the song. It's not a bad song in itself, but when it was re-released with the movie Ghost, well all you generation X-ers will remember how terribly terribly overplayed it was. Damien's voice was spot on for it, but it seemed somehow....mechanical and over-polished (does that make any sense? probably not). Anyhow, it is the one I skip over on the DVD. SSTBTHW is a beautiful song to me, and I think I will need to listen to D's version a bit more to convince me of the arrangement. I really dislike IfTNComes as a song, but D's version has converted me there (and he looks so beautiful for that performance) That's about all the negatives I can muster !!!

I love NMTF...I think it shows a rockier side of D.
SSTBTHW is not one of my favourite songs but I LOVE D's arrangement (much better than the original I think...)
So...ummm...nope....can't think of any I don't like....
Edited to add: I do think the styling department let D down a bit in SSTBTHW though...

Not a huge Alex Lloyd fan myself, but D did tear it up..agree that at times the band where overpowering. Can't say I really dislike any of the songs he sang except Celebration, loathe anything vaguely disco..was dreading that night, with good reason it appears.

I hate hate hate "the song not Damien's performance" hate Celebration! I don't care who sings that song....Kate Bush the goddess could sing it and I would hateeeeee it! So nothing to do with Damien just the song.
But on the other hand I used to seriously hate the song If Tomorrow Never Comes that Ronan Keating sings yuckkkkkk. But after Damien singing it I love his verson. So he's turned me around on one song but the other is a lost cause.

This is a toughy. i love all Damiens songs, because its him singing - and his voice and arrangements are outstanding. Celebration is too disco and sweet and boppy. never disliked that song but never liked it either and am indifferent to D's version. NOML irritates me some of the time. i can take it in small doses - it was fantastic hearing it live today, but hearing it played twice on the CD just ...i often skip to the next track. Damien sings it and has arranged it so well but it still has a little bit of the twee, nauseating Idol winners song about it. at first i didn't like never meant to fail - but since buying Winners Journey it's grown on me and right now its one of my favourites - i often hit replay. i love it when songs grow on me. really really really love all the rest.

Never liked Celebration. When I heard he was singing that I thought oh no not good But it was ok and when you compare it to what the rest sang I think the whole show that night was not great. People only remember Dean's performance because of the backflip but his vocals weren't all that. Love everything else The only other one I sometimes skip over is High and Dry. He sang it brilliantly but I just don't listen to it as much

I loved all of his songs. I have a few that totally standout and make me get a little butterfly in my stomach as soon as they come on though, and they are ITNC, MTMG. ND, Halleluja and Crying oh yeah and High and Dry, seriously now I want to include them all, Wicked Game and Creep and WOWY ... I'm hopeless, I love them all. I still love Celebration, it puts me in such a boppy good mood.

Actually , amazingly for me - there is nothing I don't like. I like some more than others but I wouldn't fast forward anything of his which is a complete first for me. In short, here are my thoughts of his DVD somgs: 1. WOWY - always loved the song - love him staying true to it 2. Creep - missed it live but on DVD was swept away by his notes if not his outfit! 3. ITNC - fell madly in love with him, along with my bother and sister in law who declared it gave them goosebumps 4. SSTBTHW - while I liked his performance on the night, it has taken me a long time to appreciate his original arrangement of it. Now it's one of my (many) favourites 5. C - what can I say. Always hated the song! See previous posts onwhat I think of this song. But LOVED D's enery and enthusiasm. 6. WG- orgasmic! (LOL, we're all tarts here so you know what I mean!) 7. Sky - love it the more I hear it. Was a little tiddly on the night he sang it live, but adore it now that I'm sober 8. H&D - established his pure class above the rest of the pack 9. MTMG - have posted my thoughts on this on more than one occasion. Pure bliss - understated class!!! 10. Crying - my song choice! Makes me cry every time I hear it. Criminally short, but I'll wear that just to hear those notes 11. H - leaves me wanting the full version every time I hear it - but I'll take what's offered 12. ND - no need to carry on here. As a classical music fanatic this rendition moved me to tears. His golden tones moved my soul. 13. UM - always loved this song, and while D could have done more with it, I just melt with his final notes 14. NMTF - just loved it! Hated the original but D rocked it up and had me wanting more. Not his usual Idol style, but one of my favs. 15. WOAA - hated the Ben Harper original as I found it very, very boring. But D's version was magic! 16. NOML - used to it now and loving it (despite my first fears, it is so catchy - I just can't get it out of my head). Having heard a live version though, I love how he changes it every time he sings it!

Songs, I don't really like:
Waiting On An Angel: The song is really slow and just boring in my mind. And doesn't show his vocal abilities at all. Not a fan of it.
And the ones I like:
Never Meant To Fail: There's a mix of this track on the "Brand New Day" single by Alex Lloyd. And that mix is wonderful. I love it. And Damien's cover is just as good. Probabily my fav of all the songs he sang on idol.
Nessum Dorma - For a weeks work, it was lovely. Well done.
If Tommorow Never Comes: He's no Ronan Keating yet. But a very good cover. I liked it very much. That was the song that made me thing, he's going to win this thing.
Hallelujah: Just beautiful. Beautiful.
And the rest I don't like or hate. Cause they're all good, but not great or bad in my opinion.
